Okay, Snoinky, quick, easy one from my book that was bothering me:

(3-x)+(x+2)=0 [In Modulo 6]

(4-y)+1=y [In Modulo 6]

Variables stink when you're only two weeks into the school year. :P (Quick note-for myself mostly-a pair of the variables, for example, 'y' must be the same number. YAY! SAM REMEMBERED WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE BOOK!)

Are you sure that for the first one, the two aren't multiplying each other?

i.e.

(3-x)(x+2)

The second one is easier. First, take off the parenthesis.

Code: Select all
4-y+1=y
-2y = -5
y = 5/2

They are. Check it out...

Code: Select all
(4-y)+1=y
(4-2.5)+1=2.5
2.5=2.5

jennafina, I'm still trying to figure the matrice thing... I haven't dealt with that yet. XP

how do you evaluate 8 2/3 (as in 8 and two thirds)

A vapour sometimes like a bear or lion,
A towered citadel, a pendant rock,
A forked mountain, or blue promontory,
With trees upon't that nod unto the world,And mock our eyes with air.."

That's disgusting, Waffles. You are two stinkin' years ahead... I'm sixteen and in Alg. II and I only understand it every now and then, LOL...

You think that's weird being a 9th grader in AGS 2? Dude, I'm a sophomore in Pre-Calc. And there's one kid in AP Calc...who's a freshman. Which is beyond insane.

Muse, I have the same question as MisterWaffles. How do you evaluate a single number, with no variables or operations or anything?

i think it might be a misprint...i think it's actually meant to be 8 to the power of 2/3rds. So...that would be like..4? or something. Stupid badly printed homework! *kicks*. I hate maths, i have my prelim in a week and im so gonna fail. *sobs*

I didn't see any power notation in that bit.
