I need help with a book

I'm trying to take notes for a Harriet Tubman book but I'm having trouble keeping all the facts straight. There's so much info about her, that I want a system to keep it all under control

First of all, get lots of basic biographies of her - online, or at the library. (Do NOT use Wikipedia; it's not always reliable.)
Use index cards. Using one book/site at a time, write down relevent events in her life, one (dated) event per card. (Be sure to write the resource on the card.) When you're done with the resource, put the cards in a file. When you're finished taking notes, get out all of the index cards and organize them by year, so that you have a timeline.

Writing a something historical are we? Someone with class. My advice would be use a blank note book that you wouldn't need for anything else. I wouldn't recommend the internet and I would hit the library or hit the books. Make sure you keep these for each of your resorces.

I'm sorry this is all I can really do for you. I would use up every square inch of the paper. Just never write it in pen, and good luck.

I personally use a notebook and pencil but all good advice guys. Index cards and me would be like apples and oranges. I'd lose those cards less than a week. Besides, ick. There's such limited space, and - and index cards for me just wouldn't work.

May I suggest to also consider studying the Underground Railroad as well and in addition to the "codes" the slaves sang to each other.

Right now, since you're in the beginning stages, you need to establish a platform to see where your story will possibly be led and to do this, you need to research all the key events that were tied in to Tubman's life.

For the time being, I also suggest to ignore the Internet, unless of course you feel you have a firm grasp of Tubman's biography. There are far too many misinformation on the Net, such as Wikipedia for example. *coughs*
