I have heard it is the extra parts of pig that they don't use in other things.
Have you ever bitten into a hot dog and felt something crunchy? Yeah, that's pigs' teeth...gross!

You were warned,
But, seriously, I try not to think about it. Some things you just don't want to know and you just want to eat and enjoy.

I saw a program about this once... about all the ingredients cheap food has that the public would rather not know.
Cheap sausages often contain eyelashes, snout, ligaments, tendons & parts of the trotters.
