Coey:

Coey nodded, here hand tingling where his lips brushed over it. He releashed her hand and bowing, turned and walked away. She sighed, and sat down.

"Tabitha!" her mothers guestured for her. "We must leave." She nodded, agreeing.

*****************************

The carridge ride back, was long and exhausting. She was relieved when it was over. She bid her mother good-night before retiring to her room. Sighing, she sank down on the bed, wondering what Charles was thinking of. She smiled. Charles. She drifted off to sleep, thinking of her betrothed. Maybe she wasn't a dissapointment after all.
"Hello, is this thing on?"

Charles

Remi hadn't spoken to any of them on the ride home. Apparently, he'd thought that speaking to Charles or Leopold would have forced him to speak to his father as well. Charles barely noticed, he was (somewhat selfishly) busy with other thoughts. He'd already decided that he had to see her the next day.

What had been the odds of getting matched with someone like Coey? Someone who wasn't just interesting and seemed to like him as well, but someone who didn't even like the way things stood socially?

He wouldn't pick her as a revolutionary in the manner that Phillipe and Leopold knew revolutionaries to be...rather, she was a new kind. Maybe one that heralded a greater role for the commoners in this nation in a peaceful manner. Or maybe only one who wanted to see some minor changes, less arrogance among the peers and such other ideas.

He hoped she wanted the people to have a louder voice in England. It wasn't that he so much believed that it was the right way, although he did know many commoners who appeared as intelligent as many nobles, and more intelligent that most. But he wanted her to be thinking that way because it was a wider dream, with ties back to the chivalrous England they seemed to have lost.

That, and the chances of forcing arrogance out of the nobility was slim.

Remi

He caught the reins easily - he'd been riding for a long time now, and some stableboy's trick wasn't going to catch him off guard. He decided on the spot that he didn't entirely like this 'Harlow', especially not the way he treated Remi with such scorn while showing great courtesy to Sunny. He had a horrible feeling that Harlow was entertaining romantic ideals about his betrothed.

A ride would be nice, then, in more ways than one. He shot a cold look at Harlow as he swung into the saddle. They said first impressions were everything, and neither of the boys had made a very good impression on the other. Harlow, in what Remi saw as a commoner's ignorance, had put Remi straight off side.

As for Remi, his grasp of the English language wasn't quite good enough to manage the best romantic talk, and apparently, he'd given Harlow the impression that he was a pompous fool.

He waited until he judged Harlow to be out of earshot, then gave Sunny a very sincere look from where he sat, "Sunny, I cannot tell you how sorry I am for not telling you everything about myself last night. You must think now that I am trying to rescue myself now by claiming that I would have told you later."

She stayed silent for the time being, as though unwilling to voice her true thoughts on the matter. He continued regardless, needing to get every word out, "But you have to take my word for it, I cannot produce other proof. I do not want to simply take advantage of you and then leave you."

Clearly, he wasn't aware of how happy she was to see him, and was still unsure of whether he had been forgiven.

Wide-eyed stupid.

To be a master of metaphor is the greatest thing by far. It is the one thing that cannot be learnt from others, and it is also a sign of genius.
