I am currently reading - The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. I hope it is as good as her first one 'The House at Riverton' Which I adored!

I've read both of those! :) I liked 'the Forgotten Garden' but deffo not as good as 'The House at Riverton', IMO. I think the former was a bit choppy, whereas 'The House at Riverton' felt more complete... hope you enjoy your read. Out of curiosity, have you seen the film 'Gosford Park' with Helen Mirren? Similar setting/time period. I love the whole English house in the early twentieth century concept.

ah! the other Hardy? Far from the Madding Crowd

I have that too. Haven't read it yet but seen the film. I loved 'Tess of the d'Urbervilles' and 'Jude the Obscure' but really didn't get on with 'The Trumpet Maker'.

I've read the beginning of 'The Forgotten Garden' and it certainly jumps around a lot. I would love to make 'The House at Riverton' into a film lol

I LOVE Gosford Park lol It is one of my favourite films. I love how the camera never stops moving and the whole upstairs downstairs thing. I have to admit I love period dramas. Have you seen Forsyte Saga?

No I haven't actually :( Do you mean the ITV production?
(You see, I only saw 'Gosford Park' because I nabbed it from my parents' film cabinet :D I wish Stephen Fry had had a bigger part.)

Yes, I agree it'd make a good film (Riverton). The book was very visual, and the constant toing and froing from past to present would work well in flashback-form.

Mercury: You mean 'The Hardy Boys!?' I just read two of them yesterday! Anyway, I am currently reading 'The Hobbit' in my class. I've started to read it before, about two years, but I only made it to the part where Bilbo gets lost in the mountains and calls for light. Oh! I m also reading 'Let the Cyclone Blow' by Rose Wilder.... Can't remember the other part of her name. I'm also reading 'On the Shores of Silver Lake' by Rose's mother, Laura Ingalls Wilder. And the 'Long patrol' by :Brian Jaques.

LOL no, Thomas Hardy - though I used to read the Hardy boys waaaaaay back when (do I sound old?)

I've yet to read The Hobbit. I don't know why. I have it, sitting there on the shelf. But I just haven't cracked the cover yet. Maybe that's next. OK maybe after I make a dent in some of the ebooks I downloaded this past week.

The Girl with Dragon Tattoo, from the Millenium Trillogy. I've read it before and read the second book. It's awesome and set in Sweden. The names really get me. Main character: Michael Blomkvist.

Faking 19 by Alyson Noel

It's a really good book.
True love, in all it’s celestial charm, and
star-crossed ways, only exist in a writer’s
mind, for humans have not yet learned
how to manifest it.

I'm reading the Iliad by Homer, Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett, Pawn of Prophecy by David Eddings, and Xenos, first part of the Eisenhorn by Dan Abnett. I don't believe any of you know him, but he's great.
