Mine's lame. I still heard my mother’s footsteps come down the stairs over the explosions and gun shots on my video game.

But technically, it's a quote:
“I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed”

The old man sat cross-legged atop the large stone pillar, overlooking the sea.

WHOO.

Are you excited by that line? I am.

[/obvious sarcasm alert]

Although if you look at the very first line on the page, it's "These six things doth the Lord hate:" which is nicked from the Bible.

“Do you believe in love?”

It gets better from there, because this character is in love with his therapist, and he's trying to see if she feels the same way. Weird, yes.

The salt spray from the choppy waters stung the pale cheeks of the painfully thin and haggard gentleman who stood hunched over the railing of the cargo ship powering through the English Channel on its way to France.

Bit long, but it serves it's purpose. XD

The first sentence of my novel is: I've never liked Monday mornings.

But technically that's part of the thousand words I can't count so I suppose it should be Chocolate used to seem much too expensive and indulgent to me but (with a vaguely guilty pleasure) I can admit that's changed. but that's rather dull and just a little bit of filler.

The night had come and gone with the passage of time. Each second brought about new friendships and extinguished worries.
True love, in all it’s celestial charm, and
star-crossed ways, only exist in a writer’s
mind, for humans have not yet learned
how to manifest it.
