Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap. This wasn't fair. I heard shots in the distance and started to panic. The good guys/guardians didn't have guns. That meant that they were the ones being shot at. What do I do?

I wanted to cry. I knew Nathaniel had to be brought down, I knew one of my friends would end up dying. Settling my nerves, I brought some lava into my hand and then made it form around the hand. It hardened a little bit and then I had my very own lava-glove.

"Kathy, if you can hear me, I'm coming." What I didn't tell her is that I was ready to die to bring the bad guys down. He scared the crap out of me but...looking around me I saw people screaming, running, digging in rubble and lava-rock for their loved ones.

I headed towards where the gunshots had come from.

Antonius:

He heard a yelp of pain... He had shot Noah... He was smiling to the idea when Jessa came from the corner.

"Ahh, hello Jessa, how are you today?" He said, He lifted the gun, "And how nice of you to have those thoughts about Nathaniel," Antonius grinned "He will not like this," He shot six rounds at Jessa, who dodged them with her glove, He then started to run away.

Kathy-

I scrambled up to Noah. It wasn't a bad wound, but Noah was on the ground and in pain.

"Noah, stop it all, please."

"I can't do that Kathy. You know it."

"It's too much. We aren't supposed to be like this. We are neautral, pur job is to secure peace. We need to start over."

Noah was silent for a minute, but then closed his eyes. In seconds time had reversed and we were all on the plane. The only memory I had was us entering the jet and Jessa off to join the bad guys.

......................

Edward-

It wasn't enough! Why didn't he just let Antonius get the memory and dispose of Jason? It was hardly possible to keep calm in his presence and not ripping his throat out.

Suddenly everything stopped and I was back in Nathaniel's office.

"You are to rescue Audi."

I nodded and walked out.

I didn't even think of what Jason said for fear that Nathaniel would kill me, Antonius had the easiest time barging in on people's thoughts. I let the spirits overcome me and felt as stealthy as a fox, running towards the commotion. The spirits were eager this time to feel the thrill of hurting people.

I yelped in pain as the spirits did something I didn't think they could, they hurt me. They hurt their host. They had just made claws spring from the spaces in between my fingers.

We leaped to a hiding spot easily as the first person was attempting to go through. We pounced on them and scratched them maniacally, they threw us off of them using some sort of power.

"Really, thought you'd be the better person Larella. Especially considering that Nathaniel is after your family." The person said as they kicked my body and began to run through.

We let them go. I sighed in my head knowing he was telling the truth.

Trembling outside of the office at the bad guy headquarters. That guy... I suddenly had one of those deja'vu experiances. Is Noah doing something?

I waited for Edward to come out. Had Nathaniel done something like that to all of these guys?

Jason

He was on the plane, talking with Maisy about his 'alternate life', when he blinked, suddenly doubling over for a long moment, as if in terrible pain. She looked at him, concerned, "Jason? Are you alright?"

He grunted, drew in a deep breath, and sat up, holding his head a little. "Yeah, fine...just felt like my blood was boiling for a sec." He shook his head, "But we're nowhere near Venice, so that's impossible..."

Her phone buzzed in her pocket, suddenly, and Jason had a weird sense of déjà vu. "It's Audi." he muttered, "Don't pick up."

Maisy rolled her eyes at him, "Come on. You might do magic on the sidewalk, but you're not Antonius or anyone like that. You couldn't possibly know who's on the other end." She flipped open the phone, suppressing a giggle, "Hello?"

"Maisy, dearest!" the voice was clear to him, "It's me, Audi, where've you been! I missed you so much and... and... I was so worried."

She gave him a slightly shocked look, and he shrugged in answer, "I had a hunch."

Antonius:

He was standing inside the office looking at Audi who was calling Maisy. He looked at the door, "someone is at the door,"

He had a strange deja vu feeling... THis had happened before. Maybe he was over thinking it...

Maisy

Sadness swept through me as I heard Audi's catty tone wriggle down the phone. The emotion welled in me and threatened to burst from my breast, it made no sense. I felt a sensation of loss, of something that could of been, of something I'd had.

"Audi," I whispered sadly. And then the feeling fled as if it realised it shouldn't be there and it was replaced by defiance and anger. How dare she call me? How dare she think she could reach me?

"Don't tell me your with that man, are you? Ooh... do I sense a little connection? Do I..." Audi hesitated and I wondered if she felt the same shiver of familiarity as I did, almost as if the words were an echo, something she'd said before. But that was impossible!

"What do you want?" I asked absently, my thoughts racing ahead, trying to reach some sort of conclusion.

"I... I miss you," Audi said.

I coughed a little, defying my thoughts. Maisy's voice was laced with anger and intertwined with defiance, her emotional thoughts confused and tangled. I looked around the plane and stood up, dropping the bowl of cereal onto the floor. A dark spot soaked into the carpet and began to spread.

My voice softened, "Maisy," I whispered, clinging to the phone like a dear friend was on the other line, the connection almost broken by a tunnel. "Is this just me or do you feel it? No sense in lying,"

There was a gasp and a break in her tone, "Yes,"

"Listen to me--"

"Why should I?" she whispered back.

I sighed a let the block of emotion down from my voice, letting her here me (something I haven't done in ages). My voice almost sounded a tiny bit innocent--like it did before I joined Nathaniel. A shiver ran down my spine at the thought.

"Please, don't leave,"

"What do you mean?"

A lump rose into my throat at the sound of surprise in hers. She's never heard me like this, and I didn't know if even I could handle hearing my real self. "I don't know, but you can't join their side. You can't land in Venice, you can't... can't..."

For a moment her voice was soft, "Can't what?"

"I'm sor--" Edward grabbed my throat and the phone fell from my hands, flipping closed onto the floor and making an electrical buzzing sound in the spilled milk.

I let go, feeling the urgent urge to take a different root. "Audi, this isn't one of your tricks?"

She shook her head no. Jessa looked at me hard. "Well that wasn't nice Eddy-kins."

I ignored the urge to retort and looked back at Audi. "Call Nathaniel and Yentaro. We're landing in Japan."

"Nathaniel's not going to like that," Colt warned.

"He doesn't have much of a choice. Venice is a ruin now anyway. No point in staying there."

"What about Larella?" Audi asked.

Something in my chest beat for a minute, but then the feeling was gone. Hoping that Audi didn't catch it, I sighed and answered. "She'll just have to come to Japan with Nathaniel and Antonious."

"Hey, wait," My mind flashed to Maisy, where she would land: Venice. "Why're we going to Japan? Who the heck is Yentaro and why should I call Nathaniel!"

Edward's face looked cross and he folded his arms, supressing a sigh. "You have a phone, you'll know as soon as we're there, and because I think Nathaniel might react a little better if you tell him."

Colt and Jessica were sitting down on chairs opposite each other, watching us like we were a TV drama. I glanced around and laughed a tiny, cherub laugh. Edward's eyebrow raised then fell, his eyes narrowed.

"What?"

I slid the phone into my back pocket and held his chin in one hand. I could see the instant furiousness behind his pupils, encircling his thoughts. Then, holding his head firmly with a sly grin, I whispered, "How 'bout you call Nathaniel, and then I'll even let you call... Larella?"

His face flashed a slight red.

That was uncalled for. I quickly silenced my feelings and went back to the front of the plane. "Just freaking call him Audi!" I shouted back.

Vual was at the front with me. "Kind of touchy?" he asked.

"Don't want to talk about it."

"our problem is that you always let Audi get to you. Just ignore her."

"Kind of hard when she can control what I feel like a puppet."

Vual shrugged. "Good point."

"You're so much help," I said sarcastically.

Larella

I folded my arms in deep thought, throwing up a mind wall so Antonious wouldn't be able to see my planning. I had learned how to keep people out when i needed to.

I could tell them i have some urgent business, no that's too cliche'. Ughhhhhhh, what am i going to do! I rubbed my temples attempting to extract an idea.

someone tapped my shoulder, anger rose through my body.

"What do you want?" I hissed. My eyes were black, I was infuriated. If only i could save Raye without being caught.

We had landed in Japan, after alerting Yentaro to our arrival, and got out of the plane single file. I stepped out and walked forward. He wasn't there.

"So where is he?" Audi asked.

"I don't know. Wish Antonius were here, he could find him quick."

"Is that a limo?" Jessa asked.

I frowned, knowing that it was Yentaro's limo. He had to show off.

A chauffer stepped out and opened the side door, allowing Yentaro to come out. He looked as though he had just come from a meeting.

"Welcome everyone. Venice not home anymore?"

"Not when the goodies are there," I muttered. Yentaro gave me a look and then turned to Audi.

"Audi how nice to see you again." Audi frowned.

"Enough Yentaro. What would Nathaniel think if he saw you flirting?"

"I was just being... never mind. So what was the emergency?"

"Nathaniel will explain that when he gets here," I said. I smirked when I saw Yentaro's face pale.

"Nathaniel is coming here?"

"Yeah, he's on his way."

Maisy

Venice sent shivers down my spine as I tottered away from the plane. the wind tugged at my skirt, pulled on my hair and seemed to entreat me to walk those streets again. The hum of traffic soothed my ears and I looked about eagerly.

"They're not here," Jason said. There was a tone of irritation to his voice as he looked across at me. I blanked my face, hiding any emotion that might have crept out. What was it? Was I actually disapointed that the trouble makers weren't here? Yes... yes, I wanted them dealt with, the sooner the better right? Or did I just want to see them again...

"Then what do we do now?" I asked quietly.

"Follow them," Noah said. I tuned out at that point, losing my mind in thoughts of Audi. I wondered at her reasons for not wanting me to stop in Venice and I wondered at that passing, fleeting phase of... friendship? Where could the feeling have come from...

"Come on, back on the plane," Jason urged. I followed mutely.

"Where to?" the pilot asked as we passed her.
