Jessie sat cross legged in her window ledge. A very odd and percarious place to set herself, but it was comfortable enough. She had homework to finish and it provided enough light. Logan will be around soon she thought with enjoyment and panic. She wouldn't be allowed to go anywhere past her cell keeper of a mother without her homework being done.

Another ten minutes passed before she finished. She never was that fond of trigonomatry, or math in general for that matter. Science was her thing, she had run out of science classes to take, and room to take them. Her sole focus now was on her Math and History credits.

She snapped her book shut and shoved them in her bag. She grabbed her nail polish and started examining the ingredients. A random habit of hers and her obsession with science. She always liked to figure out what made what work, the anatomy of everything she could see.

Sensing that there was sombody else in the room she pretended to be engrossed in it, but like usual when Logan came up to her and whispered, "boo" in her ear she jumpped and nearly fell out the window. "You know you really need to stop sitting there," he said with amusement.

"I'll stop when you stop sneaking up on me."

"Then we are at an impass."

She rolled her eyes at him as she set her feet on the thick carpet of her floor, "Silly English major," she scolded, "always using big silly words to confuse the silly science major."

He sat on the floor by her, "the silly science major should start reading the thesauras."

Jessie smiled, shrugged and sat down on the floor curled up beside him. "You should start reading your science book."

"I took all the science I need."

"And I took all the English and theology I could stand."

"It's not that bad."

She smiled and patted his hand, "I'm done with my homework, let's do something stupid and mind numbing that's also not video games."

"How about a nice walk for now then?

She smiled and stood up, "alright."

Jessie loved when she was with Logan, it felt so right being next to him and having him around her. No matter what was going wrong in her life, when he was around it was like she was floating on cloud nine. That was a problem at times because when she wasn't around him she was missing her second half.

"What are you thinking about?" Logan asked as they walked through the woods at the back of her house.

"How your my other half." She smiled leaning against him as they walked. He laughed,

"We agree on that, my science major!" He smiled kissing the top of her head. She giggled and covered her mouth, she hated her giggle. He knew what she was doing too and shook his head. "How many times do I have to tell you that your laugh is not annoying?"

"A million." She shrugged.

"Well it's not annoying." He laughed. "There I think that was a million and one, so now you must believe me."

"I'm not so sure about that." She slipped her hand away from his and took off running towards where there was a double person swing that they had put up. He took off after her grabbing her around the waist and pulling her close. She laughed as he breathed on her neck. "Stop it!" She giggled. "That tickles." He laughed and led her over to the swing sitting her next to him as he pushed it back and forth with his feet.

"I love you, Jessie!" He smiled.

"I love you too, Logan Rose." She kissed his lips softly and sighed. "I think my life is perfect."

Jessie threw herself at him locking her arms around his neck holding him tight for the greatest kiss of her life.

"Jessie Parker!" a voice screamed from not far away. Jessie instantly straightened and jerked away flying towards the source of the noise, Logan right on her tail. "Jessica Ann Parker!" the voice screeched again.

She jumpped over a fallen log and continued to bolt.

"I'm gonna count to five!"

She picked up the pace."

"One!"

Another three steps faster.

"TWo three!"

She slid out of the woods onto the ground a victorious smile on her face, "yes mother?"

"Where have you been?" Her mother demanded.

"In the woods walking, you knew I was going to be hanging out with Logan." Jessie smiled as Logan walked over intwining his fingers with her's. Her mom looked at him and frowned. She didn't like Logan that much, her dad on the other hand loved him, but her mom had always seemed to have something against him.

"In the woods alone, no I didn't." Her mom frowned. Jessie sighed and leaned against Logan.

"Would you rather we walk through town?" Jessie asked as polightly as she could.

"Yes, I would, that way I know you weren't ruining your life." Her mom snapped.

"MOM!" Jessie screamed. "Ugh, I'm not even going there." She pulled Logan towards the side walk that would lead to town.

"Chill, Jess." Logan whispered softly.

"How could she suggest that, I mean ugh!" She leaned against him more taking a deep breath. "Why can't she just trust me?"

Logan smiled and hugged her tighter, it was wonderful. "She's a mom, it's not her job."

She sighed again, "but still, dad trusts me. It should be his job to be protective."

Logan shrugged and she frowned. "It should be his job if mom would ever let him around the house. She is always pushing him to work longer days." She frowned and leaned into him more.

"Why, do you know?" Logan asked softly.

"I wouldn't be surprised if she is cheating on him." She sighed.

"Now, don't htink that." He said softly.

"But what if she is, that would tear dad apart, he's so in love with her." She sagged down onto a bench and sighed. "I don't know what I would do if she was."

"Jess, your convincing yourself that she didn't something that she might not and probably hasn't done." He said softly sitting next to her.

"There is a possibibilty though." She sighed.

"Yes, but there always is."

"SO there is a possibility that your cheating on me?" She asked.

"NO! Jess, I would NEVER do that." He sighed. "I asked for that one didn't I?" He smiled. She nodded. "Let's just no jump to conclusions on her, ok?"

Jessie smiled, "let's jump off the dock instead eh?"

Logan cringed, "Really?"

She stood up and grabbed his hand nodding, "yes."

"Do I have to?"

"Yes."

He sighed and followed her down to the lake.

Jessie smiled as she got closer to the water and emptied her pockets. He did the same then pulled off his shirt. She looked away, she didn't want to stare at his perfect chest. She dove into the water and he followed coming up behidn her and pulling her close tickling her sides.

"HEY!" She screeched laughing as she wiggled to get free.

"What's the password?" He whispered in her ear.

"I LOVE YOU!" She screeched. He laughed and let go spining her around and kissing her.

"I love you too." He laughed. She shoved his chest laughing.

"Your sad." She swam under the water trying to swim faster then him knowing she wouldn't be able to. He was an athelit, end of story.

Jessie swam through a patch of seaweed, she needed a breath. She turned herself so she could go up faster but found her foot stuck. Panic struck her, she flailed around trying to free herself but to no avail. She was stuck.

Somehow she knew this was the end. She tried to free herself and slowly started to black out. She was only vaguely aware that somebody had grabbed her around the waist and pulled sharply up. Pain raced through her ankle but it came lose. Her body was limp though, she was being pulled to the surface.

She broke with enough force to expell the last bit of breath from her lungs, she tried to breathe in but got a mouth full of water.

Logan dragged her onto the shore and laid her down. "Come on, Jess, stay with me." He said softly. "Someone call an ambulence!" He yelled before starting to give her CPR. "Stay with me!" HE yelled at her giving her another round of CPR. She was getting air to her lungs, but it wasn't doing anything. HE did the chest compressions and then blew into her mouth again.

Please stay with me, Jess, please! He yelled in his mind as he gave her CPR again. "Come on, breath!" He commanded. She started coughing and he rolled her over so she could throw up all the water. "Don't ever do that to me again, Jess, please." He said a tear sliding down his face as he nestled her face in the crook of his neck holding her close.

*~*~*~*~*

After the ambulence made sure she was ok they insisted on taking her back to her house.

"I'm fine." She said wrapping the blanket tighter around her. "I really am."

"That may be the case, but you need to get home and rest." The EMT said.

"I'll take her." Logan tried to persuade them.

"We'll come too."

Mom might not let me go anywhere with Logan again though, and it was my fault! She wanted to cry. SHe looked at Logan for help, but his shoulders were slumped. He couldn't do anything.

Jessie looked at the EMT patheticly, "please I really don't want my parents to know about this."

"Why not?"

"They'll blame Logan and it was my fault."

"Really, I'll take her home," Logan insisted.

The EMT was sympathetic, he let them go. Logan insisted on carrying her piggy back style for most of the walk. She didn't mind she was tired.

"You really scared me today Jess," he said.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be, just know it's not going to happen again."

"Should I be worried?"

"No."

"Ok. I love you."

"I love you too." Logan said softly.

"I better walk now, we're almost to my house." She yawned. HE let her get down then pulled her close so she was resting most of her weight on him.

"Jess, what do you think you'll do after highschool?" He asked softly.

"I don't know, we've been over this." SHe smiled.

"I know, can I ask you something?" He asked looking down at her. Her heart started to race.

"What?" She managed to push out her lips.

"When you are old enough, promise me you won't go far away." He smiled then. "Cause I'll have to follow you and I don't like planes."

Jessie smiled, "Don't worry, I don't plan on going far at all."

*~*~*~*~*~*

Logan kicked himself mentally. He had wanted to give her the promise ring that was burning a hole in his pocket, he had tucked it in his shirt when they went swimming. He frowned, why couldn't he get the guts to ask her. HE knew he couldn't live without her, he could barely last hours away from her.

"What's wrong?" Jessie asked softly.

"Nothing, why do you thinks oemthing is wrong?" He asked smiling at her.

"Well, you just look upset, you sure your ok?" She asked.

"I'm sure, just pondering some things." He smiled.

Jessie didn't really believe he was okay, "what's wrong seriously?"

"Nothing."

She jabbed him in the ribs playfully, "tell me."

He sighed and smiled and pulled something out of his pocket. He held it out to her, "I wanted to give this to you."

She took it cautiously and eyed it curiously, "what is it?"

"A promise ring."

Logan took a deep breath. "Kinda like an engagment, but not really." He waited to see what she would do.

"Hows it work?" She asked her face scrunchign up like when she was confussed.

"Well, it's like a engagement ring for someone who isn't old enough to get married. Basically I get first dibs on asking you to marry me. LEast that's what I gather from the idea." He smiled. "If you don't want it, then you don't have to...."

Before he could finish his sentence Jessie slid the ring onto her finger and kissed him.

He grinned, "I'll take that as you like it?"

"I love it."

"Jessica LynAnne!"

"Crap!" She ran to the door as fast as she could, doing her best not to cough and alarm Logan.
