Hey, everyone.
I'm dreaming_in_poetry.
I love to read and write (obviously) and I also love singing and such.

I'm an aspiring novelist. I actually have a manuscript completeled, but I'm trying to muster up the courage to actually submit the damned thing. Anyways, I hope to find people that may be able to help me improve what I have and I hope to perhaps help others where they struggle.

I just thought I'd add that, seeing as you're writing a novel, there is an excellent group you can join: 'The Novelists'. To get to that, there is an icon at the top of the screen that says 'Groups'. It's pretty self-explanatory.
Anyway, over there we're all in the same boat and helping each other out.

ello im romance otaku, but most people around here just call me Otaku. anyway, this is agreat place to test out your work, and read others for ideas. just remember, we need to keep a ratio of 2 crits for every story we post. besides that, there arnt any major rules that you need to know

ZOMG. I know what you mean about submitting that manuscript. I swear, I've been procrastinating on mine that it's getting slightly ridiculous. I think it's one of the hardest things to do, actually. But there are many people who are struggling with manuscripts and one of our writers (gryfalcon) has actually almost got an agent now, so if she can do it, there's hope for all of us!

Hey! dreaming_in_poetry. Does that mean you write poetry, or like to read it, or... something? =D I mostly write poetry, so that why I'm wondering.

A novel finished. Now I'm jealous;) Out of the many I've attempted, none have ever gone past, maybe the 5'th chapter. Sad. But good luck submitting it! When you actually decide to, that is:D

There is the 'novelists' usergroup, and there's also a place under Community (top of the screen) called 'Writer's Corner.' You pretty much ramble/vent about whatever you'e writing there.

You'll have a lovely time here, I'm sure. We have contests, and an e-zine (Squills, top of the pag), our usergroups of course, hilarious/strangely helpful generators (put your mouse on Community and click 'games and downloads' in the menu that appears), and of course the Writing forums where you submit and review, though you need to review more than you submit. At least two review for every piece of your own you submit.

Congrats on finishing a novel! Didn't it just feel wonderful when you wrote that one last word, when you knew you had finished it? Of course, there's always something left to edit. I don't really believe that any novel or short story or poem could ever be perfectly finished and ready.

I love to sing, too! It's just that I only sing when I'm alone... I'm too shy to let other people hear my singing. Well, it was this one time when I sung "We Are One" (from Lion King 2) in French to my mom, and I was in another room so she couldn't see me. It sounds so silly, I know!

Aww, come on, you can muster up the strength to post your manuscript. Don't worry, I know exactly how you feel. It took me ages before I could post the first chapter but once it was posted, I felt no regret! People here are great at criticizing and complimenting, and it can't hurt, can it?

PM me if you ever need any help, or feel a bit lost, because trust me, I know how that feels! YWS can be a bit (very) confusing at start, and hey, at least you've found the forums! In my first week I was frantically clicking on random links, desperately trying to figure out what on earth it all was Sounds silly now.
