If someone on YWS died...

If I died, I would have someone update my facebook status to (1989-2010) [if i died in 2010, for example].

I've thought of this several times.

I like to think that if I was to meet with a premature demise, my parents might eventually think "Wait! She had friends!" and let someone know. But perhaps not. In the very least, I hope they would go through my address book and write letters?

It's a morbid game of what-if that we have going, here...

When a good friend of mine died back in March, I found out through Facebook. Even though his profile hasn't been updated since then (no one knows his password and Facebook won't divulge it), people started leaving messages about what happened on his wall.

With over 6,000 registered members and over 900 of those active, statistics say that at least a few people who registered with YWS are now dead. However, if they were a lesser known member, it'd be all but impossible to find out about.

I imagine, though, that we'd find out pretty quickly as long as the member has joined the YWS Facebook group. Plus, I've heard about parents logging on other forums to inform members there what happened, and many active members here are members because they heard about it through a friend at school.

Sometimes I've wondered about if I were to die, how long would it be until YWS members found out. After all, I sometimes disappear here for weeks at a time. Yet, I'm fairly sure either someone in my family would inform members here, and there's Facebook anyways.

Oh, and in case this gets you wondering, there is a "Nate Death Backup Plan" already in place because Law School freaked me about this kind of stuff last November

I know that if anything were to happen to me, my mom actually checks YWS when I'm at school (don't ask, she claims it's if she hasn't talked to me that day she'll me me online and then be like, "Ok, she's online, so she's in her room safe." which actually makes sense, but it's a little creepy, too). Anyway, she knows at least a couple members here and she would tell them, if she didn't just do it herself. Which is comforting, in a really morbid kind of way...

And/or anyone who has me on facebook would find out since facebook is the higher power and tells me/us all.

This is a somewhat frightening thought.

I know if I disappeared for anymore than a week, a few members who I talk to on MSN would begin worrying. Some of them have my phone number, so they could call, but most of them would have no idea.

Although, so long as Alice and I don't die together, she'll be there to fill everyone in. *nod*

It just reassures us that Death is all to real. Sadly I have an Adam Death Plan. In it is all my usernames and passwords to everything I have along with a list of people I want to finish projects I've started should I be unable to complete them. Examples being my Novels, YWA, etc.

So, If I should die unexpectedly, some of you might get an email requesting you finish some of my unfinished business. If you decline I'll haunt you. :p

All of you should think about death, but don't dwell on it, if you want to make plans for just in case, then do them and don't worry about it anymore.

Alice is most likely going to die before Bella does...Alice plays with scissors.

Sorry, I actually laughed out loud at the "Nate Death Backup Plan" but I suppose that might come in handy. And yeah, I've totally thought about this before too. I think the conclusion is get a facebook or fade away.

What would happen to the deceased person's YWS account? Would we have an obituary thread for a while and then the admins would close the person's account?

How very depressing.

Not many of my friends know about my online habits and my family know absolutely nothing about it, so no, I don't think anyone would here would know. Unless you have my facebook and see something there.

I shall inform my friend of what to do in the event that I pass.

That being, of course, to resurrect me immediately.

I don't have a plan and don't really know anyone on here in person also. I'm sure someone would get on and tell y'all all my passwords are saved on my computer, so they would know them.

I don't like to think about it though. .

I don't think anyone would care if I died.
But that's okay, I don't have any plans to die at the moment. I'm pretty sure I'm immortal anyway.

I'm such an amazing person, you'll all know when I die.

(No, really, you probably will. I'm sure Mesh would find out soon enough. And in a year or so, I'll be going to school with Snoink, so her family would probably know... and I'm so addicted to the internet, if I'm not online for a while, you know something's up.)

If I died, my online peeps wouldn't know unless they knew me in real life. Which narrows down to...my best friend o.0 Then she would tell the rest of my friends, but I don't think she knows my passwords.

Gosh, I've never really even thought about what would happen to all my accounts on various forums after I die!

Oh well *shrugs* I hang out on forums for a few months and I eventually stop visiting them all together (most of the time, but not always. YWS is a pretty cool site...)

So if I just disappear out of nowhere, don't worry, I probably didn't die xD
