((Avid- Siren- Sophomore))

The hollow noise of a suitcase being dropped sounded throughout the empty dorm room. Avid peered around the room, deciding to herself that it would need to be rearranged and decorated. The high ceilings and wide space suggested that she would have other roommates living with her. Shifting her talons so she could walk normally, Avid kicked her suit case further into the room. She stopped at the bed nearest to the window and peered outside.

The main building, which was off in the near distance, held all the core subjects inside. Avid sighed and fluffed out her feathers in distress. How would she be getting to the building so fast? Avid opened the window and found a small balcony. She folded her arms in and took a step outside. Looking behind her she closed the window and straightened up. The dorm was three stories high and incredibly windy. Avid smiled contently, liking her little perch.

Rapping on the window behind Avid made her jump. A girl and a boy stood inside the room looking at the siren with confusion. Avid smiled kindly and tried to open the window. The boy raised an eyebrow and reached to unlatch the window without taking his amused eyes off of her. Avid grinned and stepped back in shutting the window behind her.

"Would you have been out there all day if we hadn't saved you?" the boy asked, still amused.

Avid giggled. "Of course not. I would've flown down to the front of the building and gotten back in."

"Ah." the boy responded. "Well, i guess we're your roommates since we have the same key. Who are you?"

Avid eyed the girl who hadn't talked for a moment and turned her attention back to the boy. "Avid Stonewing. A siren, if you hadn't already guessed. What about you two?"

((I took the median personality so anyone can be these two. You'll have to be a roomie with Avid though.))

Sonja - Dark Elf - Junior

I watched in silence as the siren spoke to the boy; I had never seen either one in my time here, which had been two years. Perhaps they were new? Perhaps they were merely transfers?

I stepped back, away from the balcony and looked around the room. It was enormous, with several different "areas" for each of the occupants. I saw a darker, shadier section in the back of the room and moved to it, setting my stuff down. It was far from the others, and away from the sun. The sun was like my worst enemy; I had no control of my magic as long as its rays were able to reach me.

Ronar - Dragon - Teacher

I let my wings catch the updrafts that were common on the campus; it was dangerous to those unable to fly, but brilliant for those who could. I merely glided over campus, watching over everything as the students filed in and socialized on their first day.

This year will be interesting, that's for certain. Especially with a pure dragon coming in... I thought as I gave my wings a mighty pump, sending me rocketing through the skies and across the campus again. I circled back around, coming upon the teachers' dorms. I had a ground floor with access to the field behind it. This field was where I held part of my classes - the transformation course, in particular - and transformed myself. From there, it was a simple walk to the door of my chambers, where everything was set up as if a human lived there.

I love my job. It's not war, but it's still grand. I landed and shifted back to my human form, rotating my right shoulder slightly as I walked toward the building. Well...it would be perfect if I didn't have this old wound to deal with. Oh, well.

Name: Lilandre (Lilly) Lotus
Age: Fifteen (Lilly is on her second cycle of life, having previously lived to one hundred and experienced the full extent of her power.)
Race: Phoenix
Appearance: Normally, Lilly is a large, fiery bird but one of her abilities is that of taking on the form of a human. In this form, she is tall with long, dark red hair that falls about her shoulders in coils. Her eyes are a dark, reddy brown and her skin is medium tan. Her nose is small and well shaped and her lips are full and an enticing, raspberry red. She has a curvy figure.
Personality: Lilly is generally kind but distant, making only shallow friendships so that it doesn't hurt when they die. She's quietly intelligent, holding the wisdom of a hundred years of life in her mind. She's also quick to anger and at the moment, she's feeling very frustrated and melancholic. She lost many friends over the last few decades, people who she grew up with and learnt from.
Abilities: Lilly has recently mastered her ability of taking on a human form without burning everyone who tries to touch her (though she does still occasionally have trouble with it and has to isolate herself until she gets it under control.) She can also create small fire balls and her tears have a weak healing ability.
Disabilities: Her healing abilities don't always work and as I said, are currently weak. She is also having trouble with transforming into other shapes and her flying is abysmal. Her control over fire is her largest disadvantage as she frequently burns objects and sometimes even people around her.
Other: Currently available for love. Also, because phoenixes are so rare, there is only one teacher and two other phoenix students at this school (both in their first cycles of life).

If someone wants to add another phoenix character later, feel free to have them join the class or be one of the other two phoenix students. I'll keep their personalities bland and have one of each gender just in case.

[Sir Rous - demon - cooking teacher ^^]

Light taps echoed behind my feet, bouncing off walls and abstract paintings that had been set in random places. I pulled out a swirly-pink lollipop and shoved it in my mouth. If nothing else this would keep me occupied for a few minutes. To my knowledge, none of the students had arrived yet.

The strawberry flavor started coating my tongue. I pulled it out and held the candy upside down, tilting my head to a side in curiosity. "I wonder what this flavor does..." I mused quietly.

The potted plants around me squirmed around as if they were disagreeing with what I was about to do. But really, what did they know? They were plants! So, without giving it a second though, I did what I always did when I tested food. I popped the candy back into my mouth and took a bite out of it. Slowly, deliberately I took it back out.

"Well that was a rip off!" the words echoed back to me--along with the sound of crunching.

A small bluish ball sat in the middle of the remaining lollipop. I frowned disappointingly and then sighed, nudging out the inner core with the tip of my tongue. It came out easily and rolled on the edges of the pink candy for a little bit. My head turned at the sound of voices coming from the other hall. It seemed I must have forgot about the lollipop because I soon found it leaning away from my hand and the blue ball falling.

My eyes followed the sphere as it made its decent. Then, just as I was about to reach for it...

KABOOOM!

Before I knew it the walls were flying by and the pictures were a blur. Light smoke started filling the hall; the plants cringed back in distress. I followed the line of paintings that turned in a different direction of the others until I found the source. A small crater, maybe a foot in diameter, lay a few feet away from me. And even farther away, at a corner of another passageway, three students stood with wide eyes.

I popped the other half of the lollipop in my mouth and gathered myself together. "I really must get more of these..." I said to myself quietly as I walked back to the explosion to search for the small blue orb--if it had survived.

(Um...Siren's don't have wings...do they? Lol.)

Alex:

I smiled. This should be fun. a room with two gorgeous girls. Of course, one of them was shy, but I could fix that. I saw Ronar, the dragon teacher that I adored, fly outside. It was amazing to watch and I couln't wait to start classes! Then I growled. Stupid Mrs. Kent! She always had to be so hard and unforgiving. Maybe she'd forget to tell Ronar and I could show up to class anyways?

I shook my head and smiled at the Siren. she was gorgeous. "My name is Alex. It's nice to meet you Avid. is this your first year here?" I asked flirtatiously with a huge grin.

Aurora:

I walked cautiously into the room that had just exploded. "Mr. Rous? Are you okay?" I asked.

I was always shy. I kept to myself mostly, which had me get really good grades. I was a junior this year, and in most classes I did really well. Of course, I was a horrible chef. I couldn't cook to save my life. But I still took the clas...every year...for one reason.

I waited for his answer, watching him, hoping he didn't notice.

[Sir Rous - teacher]

I wandered around the crater for a few seconds only to find a bunch of rubble. My little exploding candy had, well, exploded. I kept sucking on the rest though, it was a shock that nothing had made my teeth rot from the the inside out yet.

"Mr. Rous? Are you okay?" a small voice called out from behind me.

I swirled around and glided over, my socks being the way they are, slided easily on the slick tile. My shoes were standing in a pile near the desk where they usually were.

"Oh I'm fine, and you?" I blinked, which was rare for me.

The girl's face reddened a bit as she answered, "Yes, I'm perfectly fine! I was just, uh... Ah well you know, just checking to see if you exploded or something." she laughed a little shakily.

"Ah, I see. Can I help you with something then?" My head cocked to a side.

"Uh, no, I'm just fine. I should, um, go I guess." she turned around and started heading out the door--a little too quickly.

"Wait!"

I jogged to catch up with the student, but didn't have to go that far because she stopped abruptly. I placed my arm around the girl's shoulders and escorted her back into the room. Even from where my hand was near her left cheek it felt like I could feel the heat coming off of it.

"I have this candy that just came in. Since I'm not done with this one you see," I pulled the lollipop out briefly and then stuck it back into my mouth. "I need someone to taste/test my newest creation. Would you like to be the first?"

"Sure!" she sounded a little excited.

I let my arm fall as I shuffled to the desk. It took me awhile to find it actually, I had to dig through all of the drawers before I found the right one. It was a yellow and blue striped piece of hard candy in the shape of ball. If it worked it was supposed to taste something like a mix between watermelon, apple, and lemon.

"Here you are," the candy fell from my hand to her awaiting ones. "Now, if any medical problems, transformations, or explosions happen while you sucking on this. I'm sure someone will come to help you if I can't find you automatically. But I'm sure nothing will go wrong... sort of." I grinned at her suddenly wary expression. "Don't worry, I'll take all blame, okay? Now off you go! See your dorm room, find friends, whatever. Just come back when it's gone and tell me all about it." I walked her out of the room and watched till she rounded the corner.

Lilandre

The room is adequately large, though poorly furnished and there are... three beds? But no, that means I will be sharing with others, how can it be? Do they not realise what a crucial stage of development I am at? I clench my fists and they begin to sizzle.

My temper is flaring, the pains of adolescence! And to endure it for a second time, how strenuous. I think I am almost as angry at myself as I am at those who have overseen the sleeping arrangements. I sit myself upon the bed closest to the door and am glad that there is a window above it. In fact, each of the beds has a window, how pleasant. I calm myself, running through exercises that I remember from my past cycle. Slowly my hands return to flesh and not the substance-lacking flames they were becoming. There is no use in being angry over this. I will cope.

I pull my suitcase closer and slowly begin to unpack. The door handle rattles and it's pushed open to admit another student into the room. I stand and hold out my hand graciously. It never hurts to be polite.

"I am Lilandre," I say by way of introduction. The student takes my hand and shakes it awkwardly.

"That's a nice name," the student says.

"Thank you, I chose it myself," I reply. The student laughs nervously.

"Didn't your parents mind?"

"Phoenixes are born of volcanoes," I explain. "So I choose my own name and change it when I hear one I like better. What might your name be?"

Aurora:

I sighed. Well...that didn't work like I thought it would. I walked away, not knowing where to go. My wings fluttered restlessly. I looked at the candy. Should I try it? I sighed and popped it in my mouth. The flavor was unbelievable! It tasted so good! I loved Sir Rous' creations! I sighed. He probably didn't even know my name.

After the piece of candy was gone, I took off into the air, soaring high and loving the air.

((Time for a history lesson, huh? Sirens actually were originally depicted as bird-women. Several different pictures were formed, most of them quite ugly and non-stereotypical. Eventually they morphed in beautiful mermaids with a nasty temper as well as a lovely voice. I sort of made my own out of all the depictions ^.^ Oh, and just so everyone knows I'm switching my point of view.))

((Avid- Siren- Sophomore))

I smiled back with equal zeal as Alex put forth. "Of course."

"Huh. Well, welcome I guess." His voice was laden with honey. The smile I held broke into a grin. A game, eh?

"So, Alex, what are you exactly?" I overdid the siren-ness. The evil little devil of a creature inside me called me to be ruthlessly flirtatious. I scowled inwardly, telling myself that I was here for school, not for flirting with...

"I'm a dragon actually." A dragon. No flirting with dragons.

"I want this bed." The statement sounded like more of a question. The girl retreated to the far reaches of the room.

"Ok." I responded. "Well, this one's obviously mine. That leaves that one," I nodded over to the bed on the adjacent wall, "for you."

Alex nodded as if he already knew, which he probably did, and threw his suitcase over onto it. He sighed happily and I wondered why.

A shadow passed over the window fleetingly but was gone. I leaned over towards the window and looked in the sky. Ronar passed over the building and shot back into the air with a pump of his wings.

I flicked my tail thoughtfully and hit something that wasn't there before. I turned my head and Alex stood behind me, his hand on the wall to my left, looking out at Ronar with me. "He flies amazingly doesn't he?"

"Mhmm." I agreed.

A bell tolled loudly and slowly. Five rings rang before the grounds grew silent again.

"Welcoming ceremony sounds like it's starting. Wanna fly over there?"

I nodded eagerly, I wondered what he looked like as a dragon. Alex shifted, allowing me to see where the girl was. Or, rather, where she was supposed to be. Gone. I guess she had already left. I tucked a strand of white hair behind my ear. "Well, let's go." I reached for the window but Alex stopped me.

"I have to go shift in the front of the school. The balcony's too small."

That would make sense. "Sure. Let's hurry so we can get a good seat."

Alex chuckled at my excitement and thought over the idea. "I've seen the ceremony three times but never before have I seen it from the front row."

I laughed and jumped spreading my arms out in the wide hall. My feathers caught the wind and I floated up. Still laughing I flew a little ways and dropped back onto the floor. Alex jogged to catch up. We made it to the foyer and ran down the steps. I automatically leaped into the air joyously. Heavenly the wind tugged me upwards. I peered below me just in time to see Alex rip into a dragon. It seemed like a dragon had waited inside his body the whole time and just burst out from its confines. He coiled his muscles and jumped after me

Alex:

I chuckled, a thaty laugh. It was so much fun! I soared to where the opening ceremonies. We descended, and I tried to shift....but it wasn't happening!

"Shoot! Not now!" I bgged. I felt the Siren look at me. she was probably thinking I was trying to show off. This was not the case. I looked down and saw Mrs. Kent, or Principle Kent, whichever people wished to call her.

She glared as I landed, a huge dragon in comparison to even her tall frame.

She smiled coldly, almost cruelly. "Having troubles, Mr. Alex?"

I growled lowly.

"No need for attitued. But you ARE in direct vilation of your probation." she sighed and looked at me sadly. "Alex...are you trying to get yourself kicked out?"

I hung my head. "No, ma'am."

she sighed and placed a hand on my head. I immediately shifted.

"Go in with Ms...I'm sorry, I can't recall your name?" She shook her had. "No matter. you'll be late. alex, first thing in my office tomorrow morning."

[Sir Rous]

It was about ten minutes before I realized that I was just chewing on a piece of mush; the lollipop had disappeared. I threw the trash into a waste basket and dove into the desk drawers for another one. This time it was a slightly transparent black with neon green spots, a liquid seemed to be swishing around inside. I always chose at random to make sure I didn't stay with one flavor. This specific lollipop was new to me, it could just be old, or it could be new and was just bared under a new pile of different candy.

I slid the wrapper off quickly and popped it in my mouth. It was... sour! I took it back out and watched the colors switch. Now it was transparent green with black dots. I put it back in, now it was sweet. Sour. Sweet. Sour.

"Gotta get more of these, too..." I mumbled to myself just as the bell tolled in the background. "Time for the welcoming ceremony."

I jumped off the chair and shoved my free hand in my pocket once I was out the door. The halls were filling up with all kinds of students. New or not, everyone came to the welcoming ceremony. I happened to be quicker than some because of me being a demon. My feet glided smoothly, quickly past all of them to the front of the crowd. Mrs. Kent was standing beside a student, the annoyed expression on her face that I often saw--almost as much as the bored expression on mine.

Something cool touched my feet, and it was then that I just noticed I still didn't put my shoes on. It was grass. I shrugged this off and made my way to the stage and my seat in the middle of all the teachers. I took the strange yet curious tasting lollipop out briefly to see if it changed my tongue any color. It turns out that half of it was black with green spots, another half was the same thing except vise versa. I could see Mrs. Kent glaring at me and some of the students laughing, while others, were watching me and whispering to each other in curiosity. They must be new. Only the old students new I was a 17 year old teacher, while the new ones thought I was a student. This sort of amused me.

I stuck the lollipop back into my mouth and pulled my knees up on the seat like I normally did, leaning on them as I've heard the others teach call "slouching." The other teachers were sitting so straight and strict. Sitting like that always bothered me. Then, I spotted Aurora sitting somewhere in the middle of the crowd of students. I waved at her and pulled my candy out, pointing to it, then putting it back in my mouth. She had to have finished the new candy by now...

"Okay, okay, please be seated. We will be introducing the teachers and classes soon so please be seated!" Mrs. Kent called out.
