A Brits/Candians/Aussies/Kiwis (do we have anyone from NZ?) vs. Americans spelling-bee!!!!

I see the humor. It would be intriguing, besides.

Well, I guess I do speak American, but I've always like British style of writing and speaking. Like, instead of just putting o's they put ou's. I.E. Colour: color, favourite: favorite, etc.

I like writing 'faery' instead of 'fairy.'

It wouldn't matter with me. I grew up with a bunch of Brit Lit, BBC, and studying Brit English anyway, so you couldn't beat me. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Actually, although it doesn't interfere your post, British people write faerie, not faery, if that is what you implied.

G'day. I'm El, and I suppose Aussies count as English? Well, let me tell you a little about myself. My favourite colour is blue, but I've always spelt fairy, just like that, fairy. And I'm afraid I can't see the humour in this at all...

PS, I beleive there are a few people from New Zealand here.

I'm sorry you can't find humor in this. I just like to compare how things are said, spelled,and whatever else in cultures other than my own. Then again, I live in a small world. Six miles from two towns, one with a population of 800 and the other with a population of 350. Just so you can understand my situation.

Hello, El, and no you don't count as English, Just as an English (as opposed to American) speaker.

The humor/humour is that because of signifigant differences in slang and spelling, a correct spelling to a brit/auz/kiwi wouldn't be correct to an american. so no one would ever be right.

or prhaps you were being sarcastic? it's late, nearly 2 am central time, so forgive me my dull wits.

I was just looking for an oppertunity to use the word "humour" spelt like that actually. and when I said "English", I also just meant as in the vote, because I wasn't entirely sure... We have different slang to the pom's (no offense to any pom's) but we spell the same, so I was just checking.

Hey!! I resent that!

Here in America we have regions that say things differently than other regions. Such as, we here in the South say 'ya'll,' while Northerners don't. And Northeasterners can have different accents from others. And Deep-Southerners have accents that are also different from others. I don't really have an accent(other than American). Although I did have a New Jersey accent for a while when I was little. And not only have I not been to the Northeast, but none of my family is from there.
