The Circus

Dent hissed. "Ow!!"

The hand withdrew immediatly.

He closed his eyes and tried to breath shallow, tried not to move.....

Kaiya

"Dent! We have to get you backstage. It'll hurt, but it has to be done...before people see." She said, reaching for his arm again.

Dent involuntarily snapped his arm back. "OW!"

"Dent, we've got to--"

"I know!" he snapped, then took a deep breath. That hurt, but he had to calm down. "I know. But don't drag me by my arm!!"

Rogue (Robyn)

I started to step out to talk to Kaiya,

"Kaiya I know this is your first show darling and I want to say-" I walked out from behind a wal to see Dent on the floor, obviously in pain. "Oh my God! Dent.... What's happened? Are you alright sweetheart?" I said walking over to him.

Adeline~

I walked over to Rogue.
"Rogue, keep it down. Rusty will ki-" I looked over at Dent. "Oh God. What happened to you?" I asked. Everything was going wrong today. Everyone was getting hurt or killed. I hoped this was an insane dream. I put my hand over my eyes and shook my head. It had to be a dream.

Rogue (Robyn)

"Oh forget Rusty, Dent won't be able to go in the show tonight. Oh this is all my fault!" I said.

"What do you mean." Kaiya said.

"I had a vision someone was going to get hurt, but I didn't know who, I completely ignored it. Oh God I'm sorry Dent." My british accent flaring.

Lark

I grimly walked to the fortune telling tent in my first costume, more airy and billowy than the dancing outfit only to do a double take. Dent was lying on the ground as several people crowded him. I rushed over, the beads of my bracelets and necklaces jangling as I ran.

"Dent! Are you okay? What did you do?" I cried as I saw him lying on the ground grasping his arm, total pain etched on his face.

"My arm! I really hurt my arm!" he yelled.

"Hey, lady!" One of my customers yelled at me. "We've been standing in line for ten minutes and gave up good seats to see your 'super accurate' fortunes! Are you gonna do something or what?" the man yelled.

"SHUT UP A MINUTE! I'LL GET TO YOU IN A SECOND YOU ARROGANT JERK! CAN'T YOU SEE MY FRIEND JUST HURT HIMSELF?!?!?" I screamed back at him, letting out anger that had been cooped up for years on that one guy's comment. Anger all the way back from when my parents and the rest of the town dumped me in an abandoned town to die....

I noticed that everyone was staring at me kind of funny. I turned my back on them so they wouldn't see my face.

"Lark, sweetheart, is something wrong? Do you want to talk about it?" Rogue asked gently. I felt her put her hand on my shoulder. I angrily shrugged it off.

"No. I'll do your fortune now sir. I'm sorry you got hurt Dent," I spat over my shoulder.

I ignored the eyes that followed me as I stomped into my fortune telling tent.

Rogue (Robyn)

"Lark sweetheart. I-" She kept walking and I sighed, she didn't want to talk about it. She'd have to either get over it or it was going to distroy her, I didn't need a vision to know that. I looked down at Dent.

"Honey do you think you can stand? Does anything else hurt?"

"I don't really know." He said.

I knelt down by his side. "Ok this might feel a little weird but I'm going to feel around you tell me if anything hurts. ok?"

"Ok?" He closed his eyes.

felt around his chest near his heart, then down to his stomach, then to his lower stomach, something was out of shape, I could see something under his shirt, tucked in his waist band. I lifted his shirt and saw... a gun.

"Dent!!! Where did you get this?" I cried out.

Dent swore and shoved his shirt back over the weapon. Ow! This time it wasn't only his arm....was it his ribs? His back? He wasn't quite sure...

He shook his head. "That's nothing. Ignore it."

"Dent, honey, it's a gun," she said. "That's not nothing."

"Well, then, pretend it's nothing," he snapped. He knew he wasn't making any sense, but he didn't care.

Kaiya

"Everyone, we should give Dent some room. And Rusty will kill us if we don't get to work!" She said.

Adeline~

I heard Rusty giving me my cue. "Are you sure we should go along like nothing has happened?" I asked.
"Yeah, go. Before he beats you for it." They said. I grimaced and ran off to walk the stupid tightrope, not being able to help but think to myself that he'd do worse than beat me.

Dent sighed and closed his eyes. He just going to lay here for a while....

"Good luck, Adeline," he told her.

People were backing up from him. It was sort of a relief; not too much commotion about a gun. Now he had time to be grateful that it didn't go off on the impact of his fall...he shuddered.

OW!

Kaiya

She winced, her odd power kicking in.

"Dent..lets get you, to a tent.." She said.

Lark

At last the final one filtered out and I leaned against the makeshift table. They had no idea of what happpened! my thoughts screamed at me. And you are letting them barely see any of the true you. You hide behind a mask in the dark! You won't even let them get near the false you! my thoughts nagged as I trudged back to the tent to change.

No wonder Dent loves that new girl! You don't open anything genuine about yourself to the others it said, as I changed into my purple, frilly tutu costume for dancing. I tied my long hair in a bun and added the outrageous purple eyeshadow and painted my lips a bright pink. I sighed and stared at the girl staring back at me in the mirror. I felt like a stupid dress-up doll. But I left the tent with my head held high, ready to show the world the new me.

I watched the new girl struggle to get Dent to his feet as he cried out in pain. I gracefully strolled over.

"Need any help?" I asked curtly.

The girl looked at me funny but nodded.

We both got Dent to his feet and as she began to sag trying to help support him to his tent, I stepped over.

"Here, I'll get him to his tent. My act isn't on for a couple more acts. Yours is coming up soon," I said.

She looked at me funny again but shrugged and went into the big tent.

I eased Dent into his tent and helped him sit and lay down on the bed.

"Thanks," he whispered.

I sighed. This had to come out sometime....

Kaiya

She went back to where she was before, Dent should be fine now. Kaiya listened to Rusty, it was time for her act. She went to the front and began.
