I heard cheering from the guys' table, and I turned around.

Hannah. Phillip. Kissing.

I think my heart stopped. Why couldn't it be like that for me and Harry? Ours was probably just a pity date on his part. I felt so pathetic. Who could want me when they could have Hannah Stillwell, the most gorgeous, lucky girl on earth?

Solemnly, I turned back to Harry. I was going to have to face a million years of grief from Hannah, with all of the intricate details of her and Phil's kiss.

Harry was lookig at me, but I didn't understand how. Was it confusion? Disapproval? Was he rethinking his choice to ask me out?

"Hmm," he said. "Are you jealous?"
I snorted--very nonchalant.
He smiled. "That's good."
My eyebrows furrowed. "Why's that?"
"So that when I kiss you, I'll know that it's not out of jealousy."
I swallowed. "You want to kiss me?"
"Sure. Who wouldn't?"
"It looks like Phillip might not. Hes too busy shoving his tongue down Sleepy's throat," I wisecracked.
Harry laughed.
I involuntarily looked at my watch. I heard an intake of breath from Harry. "You have to go, right?"
I grimaced. "Yeah. I've got to get to Bio early.... Maybe I'll see you at my soccer game tonight?"
He flashed his gorgeous teeth in a smile. "Wouldn't miss it, girl."
"Sweet. Kiss you later!" I said, and sauntered out of the cafeteria.

Hannah

She only had one more class in the afternoon with Phil and no more classes that day with Snow. So she passed notes with a few of her other friends (though it still wasn't the same, because Snow White had to be her best friend of all). When she and Phil had 8th period together, they spent the entire time giggling, holding hands, whispering and passing notes.

So are we an official couple now? Phil's first note asked. Hannah grinned at him and scribbled down, Well DUH! We just kissed didn't we? AND we're going to go on a group date this Saturday!

Phil saw the note and chuckled. Then she felt him lightly run his fingertips up and down her leg gently. She shivered slightly. He stopped, and in her mind she begged him to keep doing it.

"I'm sorry, did you want me to stop?" he whispered in her ear.

"No, it's okay I don't mind," she whispered back.

She leaned on him ever-so-slightly and ran her fingertips across his spine. Since they were in the very back, Mrs. Rotpier took no notice of them and went on teaching.

Later, as she and Snow where walking to Snow's house (she was staying there until after Whit's soccer game) and she was recalling her 'majic moments' with Phil.

"...there's nothing like being kissed Snow! It's, like, the most powerful thing there is out there!" she finished, looking at Whitney with wide, dreamy eyes. Whit had actually tolerated listening to the whole thing instead of interrupting a lot like she would've normally done.

"Harry said that he wanted to kiss me tonight at the soccer game," she said rather bluntly, sighing and staring into space a bit.

Hannah squealed with happiness for her. "I knew you two were meant to be!" she said.

As I had predicted, Sleepy couldn't resist dishing the dirt on her and Phil's kiss. She gave me all the dirty details. All of them.
"Then, in History, he stroked my leg! We're like, totally a couple now!" She gushed. I could tell she was uber-excited, so I didn't bother to interject and tell her that I didn't care. I kind of did. Hannah was my best friend, and her personal life was my personal life, too.
"So, Phillip's a good kisser, huh?" I questioned, to keep her talking.
Hannah sighed dreamily. "Totally. Beyond good. He takes my breath away."
"Ew. No clichés in my presence." I had to admit. I was a grammar freak.
"Whatever." Sleepy was practically skipping in happiness.
No matter how mant times Hannah said that I was the most desired girl in the class, I couldn't believe her. How could someone want sickly pale me, with bony elbows and all of the pigment in my body held inside my jet black hair, when they could have gloriously tan, beautiful, kind Hannah Stillwell. I was just a stupid backup. If they couldn't get Hannah herself, why not let Hannah know how cool they are by going out with her best friend. You know, to get closer to the goal.
I walked in stony silence. I think Hannah knew what I was thinking by the look on my face, but she spared my feelings and kept shut.
I was mad at her for being so cute and pretty and loveable. As usual, I kept everything inside, about to bubble up to the surface the minute I got out of Sleepy's view. I decided to take it out on the other team at tennis, and then use my leftovers at the soccer game.
Boy, were they going to get it.

Snow's stepmom wasn't there (rather fortuneately for them) so they just got ready for tennis (Sleepy doesn't do much other sports beside tennis; which she loves) and ate snacks. It was pretty quiet so both girls, assuming that Snow's stepmom wasn't gonna be home for a while tonight, called up her cousin Theo to drive them.

"Thanks again, Theo!" they said as the climbed into the back of Theo's van.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," he chuckled.

I brought Daisy, my golden retriever, to tennis. She sat in the front seat of

Theo's car with her pink tongue hanging out of her mouth. Hannah and I
sat in the back seat.

"Who're you playing today, Sleepy?" I asked.

She groaned. "Dakota Gretlin."

I let out a guts of air. "She's tough. I got lucky. I'm playing James Quinn."

Hannah smiled. "Ah. Good memories with James Quinn." I supposed she

was referring to the time I creamed him, and knocked him out in three

minutes flat.

"Hmm. Excited about your kiss with Harry?" she questioned.

"Very. Excited about your kiss with Phillip?" I asked.

She sighed. "Very."

"So you are a thing now?"

"I think so. That kiss was pretty public."

I nodded.

"Very public."

We finally arrived at the courts. I saw James Quinn warming up. He was

going to get creamed again.

She groaned inwardly and a bit outwardly as she watched Dakota stretch. She was pretty tall and muscular. In fact, she looked more like a boy than a girl. She sighed and practiced swinging her racket at the balls thrown from the practice machine. When she stopped, she felt someone slip their hands over her eyes.

"Snow, is that you?" she said, not in the mood.

"Take another guess," the voice whispered in her ear.

"Phillip? Is that you?" she said, excited.

But she whirled around to see Harry, grinning broadly at her.

"Oh, hey Harry. What are you doing here?" she asked, holding back the shock that Harry was here and not with Snow White.

I couldn't see anything past James Quinn. I was focused; completely in my

game.

It was my serve. I whipped the ball over the net. James swung, and

missed. I just about cracked up at his pathetic attempt. Serve after serve, I

gained more points while he lost confidence. He hit it out. The ball hit the

net. Double-bounce on his side. I was creaming him.

But just as I was about to finish him off, I saw something that crushed me

inside. It was Harry, over watching Hannah win. Hannah. Not me.

Anger at Hannah swept over me, but I concentrated harder still. I would

deal with that after I dealt with this.

I summoned all of my stength for this one incredible serve. James couldn't

handle it, and it flew sideways from his racket, over the fence, and onto

the neighboring court. I had won, but I had lost at the same time. At least,

that's what I thought.

Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Harry watching her; not Snow White. She kept shooting him wierd looks, hoping that he would come to his senses and go back to Snow but he didn't look once in her direction. What is going on? she thought, taking an incredibly hard swing at the ball. She searched a bit for Phil, seeing if he had come to her game as well, like he did every so often, but the only person there was Harry.

After the match, Sleepy quickly ran into Theo's car, saying that she wanted to get Daisy out and run her a bit. She watched Snow and Harry talk and sank deeper into her seat. Finally, she put Daisy on her leash and led her outside to walk around the courts and relive herself. She didn't get back into the car until Theo found her and told her they had to hurry to get to Snow's soccer game.

"Hey, I saw Harry there," Hannah said, trying to be cheery as she sat in the seat beside Snow.

"Oh, yeah. For some reason he kept watching you play and not me. Did you notice that?" Whit said, raising her eyebrow a bit and looking skeptically at Hannah.

Hannah made a look of perfect shock. "Why would he care about me? I saw him too but I thought that he was watching you," she said.

Snow shook her head bitterly.

The car ride to my soccer game was unnaturally quiet. I kept reliving my conversation with Harry in my head. He had told me he'd be at my game, but it seemed like he was reluctant to even go.

"Look, you don't have to come if you don't want to," I had said.
He had just shaken his head and said, "Nah, I promised."

I was mad at myself for letting him come when he didn't want to, yet, I was sort of angry at him, too, that he didn't want to watch me play. Or kiss me.

I watched Sleepy out of the rearview mirror. She was biting her lip, as if she felt guilty. Guilty.

Why would she feel guilty unless something was going on between her and Harry? But she was completely in love with Phillip.

No, I was just kidding myself. My imagination was going out of whack, that's all. Unless Hannah was more of a flirty vixen than I knew....

No. Hannah was a loyal, fantastic, best friend. She would never hurt me like that.

We finally got to the field. Sleepy rushed out of the car.

Would Harry hurt me like that?

She ran out of the car, eager to avoid the awkward silence of the car. She ran into the field and searched for Phillip. He said he would be there because his little sister was doing some kiddie tumbling program in the gym. When the players came out into the field to practice, dhe decided to just go find him in the gym herself. When she got there, she saw the group of children doing pre-gymnastics, including his sister Rosy, but no Phil. Suddenly her phone beeped. PHIL showed on the screen in blod blue letters. She sighed and answered.

"Hello?"

"Hey there pretty lady," Phil teased.

"Where are you?" she said, leaning against the wall. "I see Rosy but I don't see you anywhere."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I was just wandering the halls looking for you. But now I'm stuck behind this really tan blonde girl that's chatting away on her cell really annoyingly," he said.

What a minute... she thought.

"Yeah, she's talking to some guy on the phone and not even recognizing that I'm right behind her," Phil said loudly.

She turned to see Phil standing right behind her, faking a P.O.ed look. She snapped the phone shut and embraced him, laughing.

"Come on, let's get to the field before Snow finds me and has a cow," Hannah said, wrapping her arm around his waist and walking dowwn the hall with him.

The game wasn't fun. Not at all. The other team was a bunch of wimps, letting the ball pass them every single time.

At Half Time, Coach gathered us girls together for a pep talk. It was demoralizing, and boring. Coach Sally's voice was monotonous background noise as I thought about the matters that had come into light today.

I dreaded the end of the game.

I could hear my teammates trying to encourage me, but I shrugged their comments of like fallen snow.

How could I care about a stupid soccer game at this stage in the tangled web I had weaved by agreeing to go out with Harry.

I twisted around the ball and shot past a goggle-adorned defender into the net. Only fifteen minutes left until I'd find out where Sleeping Beauty's loyalties lay.

*It's okay! I've been sort of busy lately too!*

Hannah

She watched Snow and her teammates absolutely destroy the other team. She made sure to be sandwiched in between Theo and Phil and pretend to be absorbed in thegame so Harry would ignore her. But the whole time, whenever she glanced back towards where he was, he could feel his eyes on her. She felt so guilty. Normally, if some guy was being that creepy, she'd confront him angrily. But what did you do when it's your friend's boyfriend? She couldn't just go up to him and slap him and tell him to go back to Snow White. Snow would hate her guts for that. And ignoring it wouldn't help much either. So she just decided to cling to Phillip so he got the cold shoulder and would leave her alone.

Finally, the game ended and Snow didn't look as suspicious as Hannah had thought she would've. She put an arm across Phil's shoulders as she walked over to Snow to congragulate her and noticed Harry walking over to do the same. Phil grinned at her and wrapped an arm around her waist, sending more shivers up and down her spine.

"I'm so glad you won Snow! You basically aced them the whole time!" she said greeting her friend.

"Thanks," Snow said.
