So I'm a bit upset right now...

One of my possible future plans was to go to law school then join JAG, which is the legal arm of the Navy. Even though I have asthma (it's under control now, but it was severe up until I was 17), I thought I could do it since it sounds like more of a desk job then a combat job.

Well, I was wrong. Turns out my asthma precludes me from joining JAG too...

I really, really hate asthma.

OH no!! Not asthma. I've missed out on every field day since the third grade...on top of it, I have a bad heart, so most forms of exercise run the risk of launching me into cardiac arrest. Eww.

Aww Nate, that's too bad. I'm sorry.

I have asthma and a possible heart problem too! Yeah. The asthma isn't too severe though and we're finding out right now exactly what this heart thing is. I hope it won't interfere with my plans to join the Air Force..

Wow, I didn't know YWS has asthma problems too...sry j/k
Mine comes sometimes in a while.. I'm lucky now. But I still can't climb hills, mountains, volcano's etc. Not allowed.
Running, connot breath that well, depends on my feet only. Turning, just get easily shocked and frustrated when I get stuck.

And sleeping time. No sleep or meditate.. sitting up straight and try to catch air. Or just faint. Especially during winter time. Always some nose problems, and nose, can bring further problems.
It's like a phantom killing me, covering my 'get air to breath' ways!

I went to an operation because of my asthma. (before this I snored!) Few ppl thought there was an effect on me.. I knew nothing.

Talking about asthma, having asthma means the most times, having allergies. I had a lot of problems with them too. Can't eat this neither that.

In this time of year I get eyes and nose problems... Flowers and Flora. Has something to do with asthma... I guess

When I was younger I had to use an inhaler and a machine and everything every night before I went to bed. Now, my asthma attacks aren't as severe but now I have problems with my diaphram spasming...meaning, I'll go into hours of non-stop belching that I cannot control. It's really weird...and I hate going to the emergency room telling them I can't stop burping...heh...I'll shut up now.
when there's nowhere to go, it's time to grow up.

Chances are it will, I'm afraid. You have to have a doctors note that you have been without an inhaler for so many years. I learnt it while I was at air cadets. I have astma too, it doesn't let me down too bad, as I'm not particularly interested in joining any air/sea/land force. I just need to have it with me 24/7. If i dont have it with me, i panic and get wheezy! It's silly really.

I have reactive airways disorder. As long as I take my medicine every day it doesn't keep me from doing anything normal (when I run around too much I have trouble breathing, though). When I was in sixth grade I used to have some pretty scary attacks where I would just cough and cough and couldn't drag any air into my lungs... not fun.

If I run too much now it takes me a long time to catch my breath, but other than that, I don't have to worry about it. Bites, though.
Got YWS?

lon's right Crysi, though it depends on the field your going into. If you going into any kind of aerospace or mechanical engineering, scientific, speciality, financial, or personnel, you shouldn't have to worry about the asthma.

But if your planning on going into any kind of jobs like: fighter pilot, bomber pilot, reconnaissance, special operations, tanker pilot, navigator.. you probably will have some troubles with it.

1- It'll impair the physical training required for a number of years
(R.O.T.C. , On-Base Training)
2- It'll interfere with the piloting itself

Trust me on this, I almost went into R.O.T.C. this year and was considering a career field in the Air Force myself. My half-brother Shawn is Lieutenant in the Air Force right now and he's stationed in North Korea, but he says you go through almost as much training in the Air Force as you would if you were in an infantry unit in the Army.
