All these poets and fiction authors ever write about is love. Poems about love are cliché, but then again, poems about how cliché love is, they’re cliché. Could it be that cliché is all there is?
Let them naval-gaze. They’re feeling something. If you aren’t feeling anything that means you haven’t been in their situation, and for that, rejoice. Rejoice because your life is not cliché, but it is, isn’t it?
Depression, obsession, anxiety and angst, they’re so fresh every time someone feels them! Love, joy, tears, pain, they’re all so real to every person. Although they are new to them, they are not new in the world. They have been felt millions of times before. Let’s rejoice that they can be new for us. If we felt it every time someone had felt depression or joy, it would get old. The colors would turn grey because we would have seen red or blue or purple all too much.
We have been cursed with the burden of being born into the late world. Humans have been around long enough to think up every idea. We, on the other hand, we pick up nasty novels of books, dust them up, and resell them as our own.
Genius is anything new. Cliché isn’t new, but at the same time it is.
Although cliché is saying something has been used too much, couldn’t we be glad it has been? If it hadn’t been felt or used so much, no one at all could relate. We’d have to survive everything on our own.
It’s ridiculous how people think they’re so original. Everyone has a twin, they say. Who are they? I’ve always wondered. I suppose “they” may be scientists, our parents, presidents, or beggars. Most likely scientists. Scientists know everything anyways.
Then again, we have to consider the fact that no one has ever liked everything one person likes. Everyone has a group of interests and feelings that creates them. Someone may have five or six of the same interests, but they’ll never have all of the same. Never. At this we can rejoice and say “I am me.”
Finally, I may be contradicting myself quite a lot, skipping around on subjects and many other things, but a famous author once said (and made a lot of sense) that you should contradict yourself. It sets out as many new (there is new?) idea in the world as possible.
“To be great, is to be misunderstood” –Ralph Waldo Emerson
Stop complaining about the cliché. We should be thankful for the cliché. Stop nagging about an “already used idea”. Let those who take them burn and curdle if that’s how it goes down. Someone feels the same way at that moment. Someone, somewhere, will understand.
Cliché is good but contradiction is better.
I’m rambling, I sound insane. I don’t even know the point I’m trying to make. Oh well. I don’t need a point, I’ve spewed the ideas I’ve wanted to.
