Like Dreamer said, these are the words repeated in the clues. Maybe this is what the clue "look to like" is talking about. Maybe it's talking about the words that are changing and how they are alike:

doors, windows, locks - rise, wrench, wreck - liquid, tides, pools - prancing for, fighting in, pulling down (those don't seem to have much in common :/) - needles in, stones bleached, trolls turned - oceans saving, forever condemning, praying for

Hmmm...Did I mention I suck at riddles?

Into the hole again, we hurried along our way, into a once-glorious garden now seeped in dark decay.

That is sanctum's signature. I googled it, and it led me to a wikiquotes page.

It's from "American McGee's Alice", a computer game I remember my brother playing. It's very scary, and creepy.

My guess would be to enter in passwords about alice in wonderland, quotes from the game, anything along those lines.

I tried quotes from Alice--at least from the book. None got past the "forbidden" response.

I have the sinking feeling that this is one of the simplest riddles; and that we're all dodging round a rather obvious answer. o.0
