Name: Clair Conley
Age: 24
Status [married/single/divorced]:Married
--Spouse:Maurice Conley, age 26.
Army Personnel [you/spouse]: Spouse
--Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
--Deployed [where or reason for staying at base]: [Maybe someone could give me a place? I have no idea what to put.]
--Service [years with Army]: A little over a year.
Living Quarters [house/townhouse/apartment]: House
Appearance: Clair has bright green eyes with long eyelashes. Her light brown hair falls two inches past her shoulder in loose curls that she can never do anything with. Clair always dresses up when she wants to, other days she just wants a pair of jeans and a shirt. Even though she is outside for long periods of times, her skin stays a creamy peach color, never really tanning. Clair stands at 5'3, slender.
Personality: Clair has this personality that just stays bright and happy. If she is down, she doesn't let anyone know. She is young and new to the whole Army thing. Clair will speak her mind if it something she feels strongly on, other times if it's something that isn't really important to her, she will let is pass without question, but still thought. She will joke around with anyone and just go with anything if she feels comfortable with it.
Background: Clair grew up in Atlanta, Georgia with the maiden name of Clair Cambert. She had the normal teenage life and never complained. She met Maurice Conley while still in college, but not at college. Clair bumped into Maurice while shopping with her friends in the mall. That's a story for another day though. She became Clair Conley at the age of 21. Maurice was already in the army, but never been deployed until 3 months ago. She graduated college at the age of 22. Maurice and Clair had been living on the army base for nine months till he got deployed. Now it's just her, and her very small baby bump of 4 months.

Is this ok?

*Sorry I missed the start! Oh drat! haha But we had an earthquake here and in the 16 years that I have lived here we have never had an earthquake so it was all very exciting!*

Kal-

Kal sat in the hammock shair tied between two trees in the backyard. A retirement present for his father from a family friend who had served with him-his father had never sat in it. He could hear his neice playing and laughing next door and smiled at the sound. He had just been rejected by another art school-lack of life experience. He couldn't get any life experience in this stupid base that he had lived in his whole life. All he had for life experience was a job at the highschool he used to go to answering phones and checking in late kids. He was brooding and didn't want to be bothered but no sooner had he thought this than his mother came out.
"Kal, Kal come inside, there is someone we want you to meet!" She had that look on her face again, that hopeful look of maybe this was the one he would marry. She had no idea.
"Ah, ma.." He stood up gave her an exasperated look.
"Don't ah ma me, no here lets fix you up." She straightedned his white button down shirt and tried to unroll the sleeves but failed. She looked down at the rip in his jeans and tsked before turning to his chin length brown hair, "I wish you would cut it." She said shuffling it with her hands.
"Mom stop." He, being 6'2" easily got away from her.
"Alright I guess thats as good as it gets. Her name is Amber, she is really nice, they just moved here. Your going to take her out to dinner."
"You already said I would go on a date with her!" He stopped halfway through the door but she turned and pulled him along ignoring his comment.
Unfortunatly none of his protesting worked and he soon found himself driving Amber to dinner in his mustang.
All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, and I promise you something great will come of it.

The sun rays and warmth surrounded Clair as she worked, causing her eyes to automatically squint to keep some of the bright light out. It made her forhead wrinkle and itch with a small layer of sweat as she planted her flowers in her garden. It's only been 3 months since Maurice had been deployed, and with him not being around, she needed something to do other than sitting.

Clair's blue sun dress was now covered in dirt where she had wiped her hands on it or had put her hands on it to rub her baby bump or pat it softly. It was still small, but noticable in her sun dresses.

She could hear the laughter of children somewhere along the street and smiled to herself because to her, it was part of natures melody.

*So this is all I have to now. Is that ok?*

Kal-

To be honest, he felt bad for the poor girl. She seemed really excited in the car and during dinner-and it wasn't her fault. When he dropped her off at her house she asked him to call her but he knew he wouldn't. She was nice, but she wasn't a boy. He tried to sneak quietly into his room but his mom caught him in the hallway.
"Hey mom." he said in a small voice.
"Home so early?"
"Cutting right to the chase I see." he tried to brush past her but she stepped in front of him.
"How did it go?"
"Fine."
"Are you going to call her?"
"No." He side stepped her and managed to make it into his room. He locked the door and fell onto his bed.

Adrienne

She glanced over in the direction of the house nextdoor, over the gate that they had built between their houses. She wondered what Nicki was up to, but wasn't going to bother her. Adrienne was, though not admittedly, a bit jealous that Robert was home...for however short a time he would be. She missed Jack like crazy. When they had met in college, they instantly fell in love and the two completed each other.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a small cry, which quickly became loud and more like a wail. She turned around to see Emma on her front on the concrete patio, crying. Her stroll toy was a few feet infront of her as if she tripped while using it and pushed it away as she fell. Adrienne made her way over to her crying child, quicker than a walk but not quite a run--at fourteen months old there have been many incidents like this one that really just spawned from a child at the age where they are perfecting their walking skills. She picked Emma up and rocked her a bit, whispering soothing thoughts into her head. It only took about thirty seconds for Emma to cease her crying and lay her head on her mothers shoulder.

Adrienne took her inside and into the kitchen, setting her on the edge of the counter and standing before her to prevent her another fall. Emma had just a scratch on one side of her chin--the kind you get from falling off your bike. It wasn't bleeding much but Adrienne figured it would scab at least a bit. Emma didn't seem bothered anymore, as she was fiddling with the jars on the countertop beside her. Adrienne kissed her forehead and smiled to her daughter, placing her on the floor.

"Go play, sweet pea."

Nichola

"Hello?" Nichola wandered back towards her husband's chair, pressing the phone against her ear. Absently she slipped her feet out of the white sandals and curled up against Robert, cupping the chin of little Jayne with her free hand.

"Nicky, darling!" A voice rang out, causing Nichola to make a face of distaste and her husband one of sympathy as baby Jayne gurgled in what could almost be taken as a mischevious delight. Even Alex paused in his game of lego to cock his head at the familiar voice before resuming to stack the blocks.

"Portia... how lovely," Nicki greeted the top gossiper of the street. "How can I help you, dear?"

"I heard that your Robert was back with a fever, poor thing. You simply must offer him my commiserations! If he's anything like my Lawrence, he must be desperate to get back out there. Now, I have a few friends coming to dinner tonight so bring Robert along if he's feeling better and invite Adrienne. How is she by the way? Pregnant again, yet?" Where had that come from? Nicki wondered but she passed it off as Portia's usual desperate fishing for gossip.

"Adrienne's good but what about the children, Portia dear?"

"Bring them with you of course. My new nanny Selene will just love them and you know how little Minerva likes to see her little friends." Nicki knew just how little Minerva loved to taunt the other children but she let that pass and replied with a reluctant:

"Alright Portia. We'll be there for seven."

"See you then, darling. I just know that-" Nicki hung up the phone and kissed Robert's cheek.

"What do you think baby, feeling up to seeing Precious Portia?" Nicki asked.

Adrienne

She was startled a bit by a knock on her frontdoor. She followed the sound into the front room and glanced out the window, afraid it was an FRG member coming to offer her some kind of jello-cake she would never eat. Adrienne was surprised to see Nicki on her front porch, waving to her in the window (she knew all Adrienne's tricks).

Adrienne pulled the door open with a hand on her hip, "What are you doing over here?" She put a finger to her mouth and decided to cut off Nicki's answer, "Let me rephrase, why are you not making sweet, sweet love to that beautiful man of yours until he has to get back on a plane?"

Nicki laughed and welcomed herself in, shutting the door behind her, "Even the best of us have to take a break every once in awhile."

Emma heard a familiar voice at the doorway and looked up from her place at the television watching a little einstein video. She stood as quickly as possible and waddled as fast as she could to the doorway, tripping just before she reached Nicki--who, thankfully, has been ready to pick her up anyway and had caught her in mid-fall and raised her to her hip. "Hi Precious! You are looking especially cute today."

Adrienne chuckled a little to her well clumsy daughter, and looked over her outfit. It was true, she was pretty cute today. It was clean, and everything else seemed to be on the line, but Emma was dressed in a little royal blue strappy dress with white daisies all over it that just brought out the blue in her eyes perfectly.

"But really, Nic, what have you been up to?" They walked to the living room and Nicki placed Emma back onto the ground and she immediately found her place back infront of the television.

"Oh not too much, just..." she paused for a moment, knowing Addie would most likely be a bit bitter about this but would go anyway, "...making dinner plans with Portia Grange."

Adrienne laughed a bit, "How in the world did you get roped into that?"

"We." Nicki pointed a finger back and forth between the two of them, signaling them as the "we" roped into this dinner, "Tonight at 7."

Adrienne stopped laughing, "We? Nicki! You know Portia and I do not get along. And what about the kids?"

"She said her new nanny will watch them."

Adrienne crossed her arms a bit, "You know how I feel ab..." She was cut off by her bestfriend.

"...about nannies, yes. But we'll be right there with them. And you know this is important, she's the general's wife. Do it for Jack's sake."

Adrienne rolled her eyes a bit and glanced to Emma, giggling at the television as if she understood every word they said. She turned back to Nicki, "Okay, fine." She pointed a finger with her addendum, "But don't think I'm going to keep my mouth shut if she crosses a line."

Nicki laughed, "Yea, as if I ever thought that would happen."

Kal-

Kal layed back on his bed and flipped open his phone. There was a message from one of his friends, Steve, asking him to meet him at his apartment. He messaged him back and told him he would be there. He opened his window and popped out the screen. No one would notice he was missing, no one ever did.

Kal climbed down the tree and looked over at the house next door. Alex and Jayne were playing by the window. He smiled to himself and then continued down the tree. Steve's apartment wasn't far away so he walked. It was nice outside and he snapped a few pictures with his digital camera along the way.

Steve buzzed him into the apartment building and a journey up two flights of stairs had Kal at Steve's door.

"Hey dude," Steve said slappinng Kal's hand. Kal could tell there was something wrong despite Steve's smile.

"Hey man, what's wrong?" Kal asked. Steve looked around in the hallway then pulled Kal into the apartment. He had a beer in his hand and there were dozen's of empty bottles on the floor. Steve walked into the kitchen and brought Kal a beer then invited him to sit on the couch.

"I'm really drunk." Steve said staring into his hands.

"Yeah I noticed, what's the matter?"

"I asked you to come over because I wanted to tell you soemthing, something I can't tell anyone else. But I can't keep it to myself anymore."

"Okay." Kal replied slowly.

"If anyone finds out," Steve rubed his hand over his face in frustration, "I'll be kicked out of the army, I havn't even started training yet."

"Steve what happened?" Kal set his beer down and became worried, "Did you..do something?"

"No, nothing happened really. I guess I have always been this..way. Kal I'm...I'm gay." Kal couldn't help letting a small smile escape his lips. Steve was genuinly upset about this, he had to help him. Make him realize it was okay to be who he was. Steve put his beer to his lips and finished off the rest of the bottle. Kal put his hand over Steve's. Steve looked up at him teary eyed.

"Hey, it's okay." Kal said.

"So, you're...you're okay with it."

"Steve, you are still you. You're my best friend."

"Yeah, I'll understand if you're...uncomfortable around me though."

"Steve, I'm not uncomfortable around you." Kal's hand was still on Steve's, his thumb rubbing against the top of it. Kal had finished his beer and was working on another one.

"I'm not uncomfortable around you." He said dropping his thrid empty beer and putting his other hand on Steve's face.

"But still, I understand if you are." Kal picked up another beer and started laughing.

"Steve, I-" he paused unsure if he was ready to share his secret, but Steve had trusted him, why shouldn't he trust Steve? "I'm gay too!" for some reason he started laughing, he was wasted. It didn't take much for him to get drunk. Before he knew it the fourth beer was gone and Steve was opening a fifth one.

"Really, you're gay too?"

Kal nodded and felt relieved to finally have someone else who knew. Who understood.

"I guess we had more in common than we thought," Steve laughed lightly, "Does anyone else know?"

Kal shook his head and finished off his fifth beer. This time it was Steve who did the comforting and pulled Kal onto his chest.

Nichola

"So how is Robert?" Adrienne asked seriously, turning her head slightly to watch Emma who had begun to toddle towards the television.

"He's better," Nicki sighed.

"Then why so glum?" Adrienne prompted. "Oh, let me guess, he's eager to be back out there?" Adrienne reached across to hook her daughter around the waist and lift her away from the various wires and stacked children's films that littered the floor. The little girl creased her brows in a frown and then giggled, her drool falling out of her mouth in cute bubbles as Adrienne tickled her.

"You know Robert," Nicki agreed with a fond smile and a heavy laugh. She reached into her purse and wiped the little girl's mouth with a tissue before continuing: "But with a little luck I can persuade him to be ill just a little longer." They both laughed at that and moved onto lighter topics of discussion and it wasn't until Nicki was exclaiming over how much Emma had grown that Adrienne revealed her little piece of news.

"Are you serious?" Nicki asked, her eyes wide and filled with a mischievous glint.

"Of course, why would I joke about a thing like that?" Adrienne asked, beaming happily.

"Well it's just that..." Nicki giggled and in a display of her pure childish instincts, she leaned inwards and whispered in the other woman's ear.

"Really? Well, maybe this dinner will be fun after all," Adrienne decided.

"Yes, we'll have lots of fun! But you have to act pregnant."

"I don't quite follow that," Adrienne admitted. "I am pregnant so why is there a need for me to act pregnant?" She placed the struggling little girl back on the ground and shifted in the chair, easing herself into a more comfortable position.

"You know how Portia is with gossip. She'll be desperate to know for certain and we can hold off telling her for so long but it will only be effective if she can see you're pregnant," Nicki explained. Adrienne smiled and shook her head gleefully.

"You, my friend are almost as devious as Portia!" Adrienne laughed.

"You haven't heard part two yet," Nicki said. "What if I were to tell you that I'm going to talk all night about Jayne's new word and-"

"Jayne learnt a new word?" Adrienne cut in. Nicki smiled and nodded enthusiastically.

"Yes, she said 'military' and it was adorable!"

Adrienne

She glanced up to Emma, who was talking gibberish to her television program, then back to Nicki, "Military, huh?" Emma continued her babbling incoherently. Jayne was quite a bit older than Emma, but Adrienne was excited for when she would start speaking real words as well.

Adrienne shook her head and got back to the conversation at hand quickly, "But, still, how am I supposed to act pregnant in ways it won't be painfully obvious? I mean I could walk around with my hand on my stomach all night but if someone asks I can't very well lie to them, there's probably some kind of claus somewhere that says if you lie to an army wife you're out." They both laughed a bit, sometimes the Army had the most ridiculous rules, both written and other.

"Well you haven't let me explain part two yet." Nicky exclaimed.

But, Adrienne was on a role now thinking about how she was going to do this, "I mean, I'm only 9 weeks so it's not like I'm going to show for awhile. Gosh, with Emma I didn't show at all until six and a half month at least. And having weird cravings wouldn't work because I wouldn't ask her for something like that. And I haven't even told..."

"ADRIENNE!" Nicky grabbed Adrienne's hands which were waving in the air mildly as she thought and Adrienne snapped back and stared at her best friend in a "...what?" kind of way.

"Part Two. Now. Listen."
