Well, that just will not do.

Ooh, I'm such a vandal!

But honestly, what warped Paolini fan put that up there?
There's always been a lot of tension between Lois and me, and it's not so much that I want to kill her, it's just, I want her to not be alive anymore.

I've never actually read an Eragon book before. Judging by the comments you guys are dishing out, I'm glad I didn't.

Hurrah, Cpt. Smurf!

I really can't say why people love the books so much. Maybe it's just a case of radically varying tastes?
YWS gives me carpal tunnel.

Need a Critique?

Evil lurks everywhere, often in plain sight...Can you lurk in plain sight? Or is that just walking?

I thought they were pretty good before I read LOTR properally and saw A New Hope. Maybe some people see Eragon as a mushed up version of "classic" sci-fi and fantasy, which they can read without too much effort?

I think certain characters and places are neat (the werecat is awesome) but Eragon just irritates me. The whiny brat is the hero. What is the world coming to?
“We’re still here,” he says, his voice cold, his hands shaking. “We know how to be invisible, how to play dead. But at the end of the day, we are still here.” ~Dax

That's the point. The world is made up of whiny brats who they like to see themselves as heroes. They want to read a book that's "similar" to their lives.
Admiration: Our polite recognition of another's resemblance to ourselves.

Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

Confidence: the feeling a person has before he fully understands the situation.

Shin: A device for finding furniture in the dark.

My opinion is... very many people are not cultured enough to read good books, therefore, when they see a really big, long book that they can read without thinking, they think they accomplished something (while all they really accomplished is lowering their IQ and making me write a really long sentence).

Firestar, surely you mean "want to read a book about how they wish their lives were"?

Ooh ooh, does your avatar thingy-mabob mean you live in America. I'm posting my guess as America.
So you're going to kill a god. Sure. But what happens next?

i used to like the series at first, but now.... *yawn* I mean, he just borrowed ideas from some of the greats. So why do people think he's so great? (just another one of my useless questions)

Well, yes, they aren’t too good, but for one-time reads they can do. The fact that I will buy the third book doesn’t necessarily mean that I like the series, though…

It’s just that if I started I want to end it. *is grumpy*

Yeah, I understand that, Esme. I'm sort of OCD that way. If I start a series I'll have to end it. I really am curious to see how the Eragon series will finish, though. I doubt I'll go and buy it, though.
