I have a real problem with tenses - working on it - or trying but is "said" considered past tense?

Yes, this is might be a stupid question but I'd like to know.

Yes, it is. The present tense would be 'say'.

Yes, I would say that 'said' is past tense.

It is past tense and don't wory about it. I get confused on tenses all the time and it drives my cousin crazy.
