Fortunately you were a serial killer and everybody else was glad to be rid of you.

Unfortunately, a bird flew by and pecked my eye out.

Fortunately you were already dead and didn't care.

Unfotunately, it still hurt (for some reason).

Fortunately, nobody cared.

Unfortunately, I was sad about this.

Fortunately, someone hacked your brain so that you would never be sad again.

Unfortunately, they did a poor job of it and left some unconnected neurons.

Fortunately, the neurons were left disconnected in such a way that it actually improved your intelligence with no ill side effects.

Unfortunately, the increased intelligence made me realize the futility of life and caused you to commit suicide.

Fortunately (This would fit better under unfortunately, but that wouldn't work), you were already dead, so any suicidal tendencies you may have had didn't come true.
