Watching the morning news, isn't something I usually do, but today I was overwhelmed by the story I heard (On channel 10 **growls**)

The man they were interviewing, who's name has escaped me, said that:
"To feed a hungry child so they are nourished for the first two years of their lives, they will be set for life. Deprive them of those years, having them starve, they won't survive."

It's called "Plumpy-nut", a bizzarre combination of Peanut Butter, sugar, powdered milk and vegetable oil, with added vitamins and minerals, and seems to be curing world hunger.

Here's a link:

How fantastic is this?

That's very cool. I've always liked peanut butter.

Erm, I hate to be a party pooper, but it isn't all that great. I mean, it's very good, but as they say on the website, "There is much more to be done." It isn't going to cure world hunger, at all, it just nourishes the younglings, and not all of them. Things like these are a dime a dozen, lately. The closest there is to stopping world hunger currently is this brilliant plan here.

... that's pretty cool. Even if it doesn't solve everything, it's still fantabulous.

But it would suck if you were allergic ot peanuts.

What would cure world hunger would be decent irrigation in African countries so that they could grow better crops in the driest areas, better economies so that everyone can afford food, stuff like that. Foods like that are a good idea, but not nearly enough.

I agree with Rei. We can extort as much as we want from third world and developing nations, and in return we give them... peanut butter (or a more fatty, sugary one). If I have the ability to have a well-rounded dish with variety every week, why shouldn't those children?

The best plan would be to use all the money used on military expenses around the world to cure world poverty instead. There is more than enough. But noooo, war is more important.
