These are truly random...I wonder if there's a book like that for here...

Good for a laugh though...

And, believe it or not, they're all true.

Duelling is a crime anywhere in Canada. You may not "provoke another person to fight a duel," or accept the challenge. You could face up to two years in jail. (The musketeers would have to put down their swords and pistols if they lived in Canada.)

Does that mean you're not allowed to slap anyone with a glove?

lolz Stella.

I like: Taxi drivers in the Halifax Regional Municipality must wear socks. FTW?? Does that mean socks with sandals too?

I read somewhere that: It is punishable by law if two men drink out of the mouth of a moose --- FTW!?!?!?!?

*laughs*

keep these going, they're awesome!
I have an approximate knowledge of many things.

I understand the door-to-door chocolate sales. Schools always warn us not to do it in case of creepy perverts who, unfortunately, exist.

Stella: No, you can slap someone with a glove, you just can't challenge them to a duel with it.

Moral conduct was dictated by bylaws in the late 1800s, and some of it still is. For example, a bylaw passed in 1864 made it an offence to "utter any profane oath, or obscene, blasphemous or grossly insulting language, or to commit any other immorality or indecency in any street, highway, or other public places" in York and Peel countries. It's still an offence to swear or insult someone in any of Ontario's provincial parks. (But people still do it anyway.)

It's illegal to name a store or anything for sale "Parliament Hill." That name is reserved for the part of Ottawa where the parliament buildings are located. This crime carries a pretty stiff fine - up to $2,000, or up to six months in jail.

Some of these make sense. Some of them make me wonder what kind of people make laws, if they can come up with restrictions like these. It denotes a mad mind.

I wondered why we put villains in our stories when we have plenty of them in real life; then I realized that maybe we wanted stories where the good guy wins.
