I'm hoping that this site can encourage me to write. I want to write, but I feel like I don't really have anyone to share my work with. Perhaps a communal experience would encourage me.

The site looks very interesting and friendly. From what I've seen on the forums, people appear very friendly. I know that some of the features include blogging and writing groups and reviewing. I personally don't think I'm that qualified for reviewing, but so long as I'm honest I assume I shouldn't do bad.

As for details regarding myself:
I like to write and read SF and fantasy. Most of what I've written is scattered in pieces, and embarrassing as it is, I don't think I've completed a work since Junior High. I think I can lay that bad habit at rest, but it certainly doesn't help that I write my short-story documents in several separate journals :? I'd like to improve my vocabulary without the task becoming a chore. I frequently encounter words that I'm unacquainted with while I read (well, it seems frequent) and I don't always look them up. I hate being at a loss of words as I write; it's frustrating. I don't know any aspiring writers, but I assume I'll meet some of those here :)

Anyway, I don't know what else to say write now. Hopefully I'll stick to my commitment and submit some work and participate in the community.

Welcome man, the names Tony. I'm a writer of fantasy too, though I can't get much done as well. We have that in common. Like you I'm not one to review someone elses work, but I read a lot of it. I just can't seem to give great advice if I'm not reading poetry.

Through my course of being on this site my vocabulary has improved dramatically. You'll find that just by read other peoples work and writing frequently you'll see a huge difference.

Lets make a pack. Since we both have things in common involving writing lets help each other out. we'll read each others stuff. Even if we don't leave a critique we could PM each other saying what we thought. Deal?
I will always fight back, no matter what.

Hello and welcome to YWS!!

Don't worry about critiquing, I thought I'd be a useless reviewer but you learn from each other and it's important to help others with their writing.

If you do need anything then feel free to pm me and I'll be happy to help you out.

All the best with your writing.

...And if you're bored, PM Sam since she knows the meaning of life.

XD

Welcome aboard!
The sadness drains through me rather than skating over my skin. It travels through every cell to reach the ground. I filter it yet strangely enough, I keep what was pure and it is the dirt that leaves.

This is a message to all you out there. You don't have to be the fastest writer. You don't have to write 2000 words in one sitting. But if you put your mind to it and really love your project, you can and will get further along than you ever thought possible.
