Greetings! I am Ashgan (well, that is only my online-avatar's name) and I joined this forum to see how other like-minded people in my age are faring with their work, and eventually sharing some of my own works in order to see what you all think about it, which after all is purpose of this site. What else have I got to say... well yes, I could tell what I plan to write about. I will write fictional stories, depending on my mood either creepy, dark and sinister, or rather epic and action packed. Tales that will tell about stories of uprising heroes, worlds falling into eternal shadow, and last but not least, love. In any case I plan to, once I have grown up, become a writer, and write complete books. A note I want to bring here is that I, at the current moment of my life, am quite rarely writing, so it is doubtful that you will see me posting new chapters of a book whatsoever every week. But this might change someday hopefully, and it doesn't necessarily mean that I am an inactive member.
So far so good, I humbly bow and hope that I can integrate myself well into your community.

Haha, welcome to the YWS, Ashgan! I'm Ink, (one of)your friendly neighborhood PM-me-if-you-have-a-question-the-site-people! Well, one of them, anyway. :D

So, what type of writing do you, heh, write? D'you write (when you write, of course) fanfiction of any sort, or flash fic, or short stories? Any poetry, even? :] Favorite author?

See ya around!

Well, I've got no idea what flash fiction is. So I blindly assume I do not write that. Also you will never see me writing fan fiction because I highly favor the own imagination instead of taking an existing story and creating a "It could also have been like this, if..." story. Well, what do I write then? Well (you will notice that this is one of my favorite words, heh) most likely no short stories, as my plans always become big and epic, and it simply would be too much content for a short story. So what you can expect are major plots, totally made up by my own (perhaps inspired by something, perhaps not).

As I stated before, I write quite slowly, which is mainly explained by me having some huge problems with motivation and inspiration for a set thing. It annoys me a lot, but sometimes I just cannot be bothered with something anymore. I don't know if you heard of the game Warcraft III, but to make it short, it is an RTS (Real time Strategy Game) which also features hero units, that can gain experience, have an inventory etc, much like an RPG. The game also provided an editor, which allows huge mods. I've made several myself, but none finished. That's one example of how good ideas can drown to this twisted loss of enthusiasm. I hope that perhaps you as a community can support me in continuing my work.

Well, about who is my favorite author I certainly cannot give any judgment. I've read numerous good books, and it is impossible to determinate a number one. Books I liked feature the Lord of the Rings (of course), and the Forgotten Realms (which is a multitude of books around Drizzt the drow. I've yet to read most of the story though).

Oh, and finally (yes, I will finish today ^^) no I don't write any poetry. For now at least, who knows what evolution my mind is capable of.

Wow hi Ashgan!
good ideas can drown to this twisted loss of enthusiasm

And you say you don't write poetry :smt104
Hehe fiction is always the best :smt038 hooray for fiction, especially dark creepy fiction
(my point of view of course!)
I am also a very slow writer, more to blame on my dodgy key board than enthusiasm though

Wow you seem like a real down to earth person actually, who knows what they're talking about. Fabulous, I shall now interrogate you with my ginger prowess [is that the word?]

Anyhoo, what kind of music do you like? I'm into anything really, from soft rock to slight pop and even a little bit of healthy screamo in my life, although nothing too extreme that my ear drums can't handle. I like Mindless Self Indulgence, Breaking Benjamin, and even Justin Timberlake; he's groovy and I'm not afraid to admit it.

See you around,
Lizzy ^^

Musically I listen to mostly Power Metal. In case this doesn't tell you a lot, it is the type of metal music that combines powerful sounds with fantastic lyrics concerning exactly those topics that I rave about all day anyway, so songs about dragons, knights, honor and clashing steel. But I also listen to some other kinds of metal, as long as I can understand the singer, and as the song makes a bit of sense, and has a melody, I am not complaining.

Another musical note I want to tell, without wanting to offend anyone thinking unlike me; I HATE hip hop. I absolutely feel hostile towards all those mindless hopers that cannot walk or talk like a human could/should. It's neither music. It's some electric sounds combined with some cent less guy telling a story containing the f-word and what else other curses, or even more brain dead, "Yo", quite a lot. The crown of this, to make it attractive: He tells the story very fast. Wow. I've waited all my life for that. Anyhow, enough aggressoring on them hopers, they suffered enough already by simply being there.

On the latter I want to thank you for greeting me in such numbers, and I also notice that at least two people already had a sharp eye on the abstruse and shadowy depths of my mind. Well, fortunately for you guys, I've written a creepy story for school once (which was elected the best of the class in that work... but that is nothing to brag about, considering everyone else had 1/4 of the quantity I had, with bigger letters, and a plot that I dare calling elementary school.) The story fills two normal pages in word. I won't claim that it is free of typos, nor that it is the most brilliant work I've ever produced, but all in all I think it is very good for just a single evening of writing. If you want to read it, you can PM me, or I could post it on the forum as a topic itself someday, whatever you prefer. Of course you can feel free to ask any other questions you wish, I am grateful for any contact possible here.

Welcome Ashgan. YWS is a superb place for honing your writing skills. So don't be afraid to post what little writing you do.

Your view on hip hop is inciteful to say the least. I've never had a taste for the stuff. Then again, I'm not sure I like heavy metal that much either. Ah well, to each his own.

Dark fiction is always fun. Best of luck on the writing, and if you feel that maybe you can't finish one of those epic pieces on your own, check out NaNoWriMo. It creates the "power of a deadline" and helps you get on that track.
Perception is everything.
