Alice knew the match was lost, knocking someone off their horse won the match but when she looked at the points, Lionel had only been upped two, how did that happen? She wouldn't askfor fear it was a mistake.

"Hit harder this time and aim just a little further up, apparently he didn't get credit for knocking you off, so now the only way to win is to knock him flat on his back." Alice stood up as high as he could on her tiptoes and Scipio leaned down towards her, apparently expecting a secret, but what he got, was a kiss. "Good luck."

"Thank you," Scipio whispered. He rode out and looked across at Lionel who was still shaking. Was it with anger, fear or sadness? Or maybe a little piece of each. Scipio resolved himself to knocking the man off his horse. Too much was at risk here. Alice's very life could be lost. Even Lionel could not wish for that.

"Three...two...one..." Scipio readied his lance and charged. Lionel rode out to meet him, much too slow, too dangerously slow and the point of his lance scraped across the ground. Scipio tried to pull back but his horse, eager for revenge, pranced on. The impact was colossal. Scipio's lance splintered and fell from his hand as it crashed into Lionel's chest with such force that he was immediately thrown from his horse but Scipio hit the ground first, vaulting out of his saddle to catch the injured man. The spectators watched on in awe as Scipio lowered the other to the ground, his body and heart both protesting but his mind in clear control.

"Was you trying to get yourself killed, damn it?" Scipio demanded. Lionel was completely winded and his body was racked with coughs.

"Match over. The victor is..."

"Go get him some water!" Scipio cut in. "Alice, help me prop his head up. You there boy, take the horse, go fetch a doctor! Is there not a doctor in the crowd?"

Alice went over and helpped Scipio prop his head up. "The victor is Sir Scipio!"

Alice couldn't help it, she sighed in relief. Scipio had won, Lionel had lost, now she held no reservations about helping Lionel. A small boy brought over some water, and she put a few drops in his mouth.

"Do you think he was trying to kill himself?" Alice asked.

"Unless I had intended to hit his head he knew he wouldn't die."

Alice looked down, "perhaps I shouldn't have kissed you like that, I knew he was watching."

Scipio put an arm on her shoulder, "he'll live," he assured her, "His armor was stirdy enough."

Alice sighed in relief, "thank god, I don't know what would happen if he did die."

The doctor appeared and looked lionel over, "he just has a couple broken ribs, he'll survive."

Scipio

"That's good," Scipio murmured absently as he removed the helmet from his swollen head.

"Scipio, your head!" Alice exclaimed worriedly but her companion was too exhausted to take any notice.

"We should get Lionel back to the house," he murmured.

"That's a good idea," the doctor agreed. Come on, you can help me carry him there." Scipio nodded numbly and dragged himself to his feet before reaching down to take Lionel's hand.

Scipio staggered and Alice immideatly stood up to help him, "i don't think you're in any shape to be carrying him," she said. "Doctor can you take a look at him too?"

The doctor nodded and ordered one of the small boys to help him carry Lionel up the stairs and another to help Alice with Scipio.

Are you serious? That's barely even half a post! *grumbles*

Scipio disliked having to lean against Alice. She looked so fragile, so perfectly small and delicate that he feared he would hurt her so he put as much weight as possible on the boy at his other side. Poor kid.

They reached the house and Scipio entered reluctantly.

"Young master Lionel!" the cook exclaimed worriedly.

"Where can we put them?" the doctor asked.

"Through here. In the parlour, this way," the cook bustled through a door to the left and into a wide, spacious room that was furnished with crimson drapes and some beautiful mahogany furniture.

"We really should be setting off. We can't stay for long..." Scipio mumbled as they laid him on one of the sofas and Alice took a seat beside him.

*Even one secentence posts count too! Heather! Unless they have a warning saying that nobody else is top

"We're going to stay until you're better," Alice said sternly, then she lowered her voice, "and perhaps by then or before then they'll have found us."

"We'll have to leave soon...they'll be waiting for us..."

Alice gently put her hand on his forehead, it burned like fire.

"Doctor!" She cried, "he has a fever!"

The doctor came over and tested it himself, "fetch some fans and cool water," he ordered to a small boy. Alice sat by him and started fanning him herself with her own fan.

Scipio tried to hold the faces in focus but his head ached and it felt as though all his memories, all his life were seeping out through a hole straight through his brain. Their hands felt icy against his forehead and he tried to draw back but the rest of his body protested; muscles pulled taught across a board and stretched to breaking point.

I must have fallen harder than I thought, Scipio decided, the thought slipping away even as it appeared. Washed away by pain and disillusion.

"We'll need to move him." The doctor's voice sounded cold and firm.

"Why?" Alice's softer, warmer voice asked. "Why move him?"

"He needs to be kept cool while Lionel needs to be warm."

"Then why not move Lionel?" Alice demanded. "Scipio's in no state to be moved!"

"Move him," the doctor ordered nodding towards Lionel, "take him up to his chambers and get a fire going, put the coals in his coverlet." A few of the servants lifted Lionel and carried him off. "you, girl, open the window, its rather windy outside, and the breeze will aid in cooling him down. Then go fetch yourself a cloak or a wrap to keep yourself warm. We don't need a third ill person."

"Alright." She was tempted to argue that the cold didn't bother her, but she didn't, she wanted all his attention on Scipio. She opened the window and ised a stick to keep the shutters open. Then she ran to Scipio's chamber and grabbed his cloak, wrapping it around herself and inhaling his scent. Then as quickly as she could without falling and hurting herself she ran back to where Scipio was.

*It's my turn!*

The highwind dropped out of Forum Jump just above Earth. The lack of air polution allowed the sensors to get a direct lock on Alice and Scipio.

"Scipio's life signs are failing," Nutty said, "Beam him to sickbay.

"Right." Adam typed his commands, transporting Alice and Scipio back to the Highwind. Back to their home. Adam Watched as the time line reformed, leaving Heather to be rescued from where ever or whenver she was.

"I'm going to heal Scipio, Somone needs to tell Alice what is going on." Nutty bolted to the elevator.

Lol. See, I knew it wasn't my turn ;)

Scipio didn't know when exactly he had lost consciousness but he opened his eyes to see a tall girl with curly, brown hair looming over him. Nutty.

"I take it I'm back on the Highwind then?" he asked shakily, swinging his legs off the bed.

"That's right. Alice is upstairs, being filled in on..." she hesitated.

"What? Is Alice okay?" Scipio demanded, stumbling to his feet.

"Yeah, she's fine but your sister got kidnapped by some aliens and we haven't tracked her down yet."

Adam was calmy explaing to Alice what the situation was when Scipio appeared at the door. He lunged forward at Adfam, gripping both hands around his neck.

"How could you let this happen!? How could let her be taken!? I'll kill you!" Adam never flinched, but simply made one swift movement in which he was able to lock both Scipio's hands behind his back and pin him to the ground.

"I did not allow her to be taken. We are doing everything possible to find and rescue your sister, but until the time line shifts enough I cannot move the Highwind."

"I don't care! this is all your fault!" he strruggled against Adam's bind, but to no use.

"Scipio," Alice's soft voice broke his anger, "You know Adam is doing everyhting he can to save Heather. He was just telling me how he plans to save her."

"I-I know. I just-I should have been here."

"No one is blaming you, and I doubt Heather will either." Adam let Scipio up, and continued on with his plan.

Alice hugged Scipio tight to her, hoping that her mere presense would calm him down. He held her back his shoulders shaking slightly. She cooed nonsense, not bothering trying to ease his fears about his sister just yet. She was also very glad that Adam wasn't mad at him for trying to kill him.

"ITs okay," she assured him when he'd calmed down a bit, "we'll find her. I'll make it so."
