Successful, wears suits and ties and is generally a fairly boring sort of person, though he would have been a very interesting person if he had followed his dreams in his youth, instead of getting a secure, soul-sucking "real job" like his parents wanted.

Hmm... Haylen sounds kind of feminine to me, though you specify male. I think of a guy of 16 or so, kind of "feminine" but not in a flamboyant, stereotypical way, just sensitive and shy. Brilliant artist, always spattered with paint and clay. Hair which constantly falls over brown eyes, freckles, sweet smile.
