It's like a strange form of Ariel, and I love it. "mary" and "ariel" combined, it has a beatiful sound. A childish sort of person maybe? But only in looks, otherwise, smart and acts her age (or older? [as in mature])

A round old English gentleman/scholar. He likes to drink and smoke in the local tavern with fellow intellectuals. He wears a tweed suit with gold buttons about to pop, and a monocle.
He always gives gold coins to children.
A Bohemian artist girl. She designs and sews clothing for money, but her true passion is abstract expressionism. She is very caring, a vegan, a tree hugger, a volunteer at about six different organizations. She has long dreadlocks and wears glasses.
Mitchell is a really rich computer geek in high school. He does not allow anyone to call him 'mitch' because he thinks that means that don't respect him. He has a hard time keeping friends because he has to rule everything. Pretty much everyone in his class thinks he's a freak, but one day Mitchell will grow up and own the companies that they work for.
An animal familiar, either a raven or a wolf. She's wise and kind and protects her person always. She may be a divine gift from the characters patron god/dess.
An angel. He's not rebellious, per se, but he is starting to wonder if the Powers That Be are governing things as fairly as they used to. He's a relatively low ranking, guardian angel and he eventually falls in love with the person he's supposed to be guarding, so they elope.
It's a pretty name, sort of sounds like it would shimmer and sparkle in the sunlight. This person is mysterious and daring, but also kind. They live near an outdoor market on a dusty street, where the chickens are all over the place and children play tag around the vendors.

Your nice boy-next-door character. He's good looking, but in a bland, inoffensive way. Girls tend to want to be his friend more than his girlfriend, which frustrates him. Everyone thinks he's gay, but he's not. He tries not to let this bother him.
His favorite passtime is building WWII airplane models.
