I started writing when I was five, filling little notebooks with stories about "The Fox who liked Beans" and "Asghdslgdj meets Qwertyuiop" and "My Day Today". I also wrote limericks, here's my first :

"There once was a man named Fergus,
Who liked to eat chips and burgers.
He got so fat, he was the same size as the cat,
And collapsed on his bed unconcious."

Totally rubbish. But I was 5, after all :D

When I was six I progressed to chapter novels, but each were only about 5 chapters, about raven-haired princesses and the like.

When I was about seven, I wrote a chapter novel with about 20 chapters, 2 pages long each, called "The Runaways". It started like this: "Maggie was bored." A promising start huh? Yeah, it didn't have much of a plot and mimicked Enid Blyton books like "The Fantastic Four." I was always obsessed with kidnapping and people being gagged and bound (deprived child that i was 8) ) so she ends up running away from home, meeting another runaway child, and they both end up getting kidnapped by men, led by the girl's housekeeper.

Yeh. I was a strange child.
Had I the heavens embroider'd cloths,
I would spread the cloths under your feet.
But I being poor, have only my dreams,
So tread softly, for you tread on my life.

Well before I knew how to write I would literally fill up notebooks with scribbles. Like I would 'write' on every line in big loopy squiggles. I remember writing a 'book' that I don't think I ever finished that was a detailed map of my house. Basically I just described every room in my house in great detail.
In second grade we had time every day to write stuff. I loved this. I still have all my little stories. I wrote about my friends, barbies, animals, adventures with my friends, and more.
I didn't start writing seriously until I was about twelve or thirteen but compared to how I write now it wasn't very good writing.
That's about all :)
It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.

Writing? I guess since I could. But telling stories? Since I could talk. I don't exactly remember what they were about, since they varied every day, and I was so young. But my mom knew since the day I could talk that I would be a writer of some sort. Maybe not a good one, but I'd sure as hell try.

I've been writing since age two or three, books only a couple of pages long, but I actually began working on my proper book when I was twelve.

I started writing 'short' stories when I was 7-8 (I have a late birthday, so 1st and 2nd grade). They were about 15-20 pages long, and were usually either about my stuffed animals going on adventures or my dog going on an adventure or this made up creature called a yakalope*.

I started my first novel when I was in 2nd grade and finished it when I was in 4th grade. It ended up being 200+ pages. It was a take-off of LoTR basically, only all of the characters were dinosaurs. LOL.

The basic plot line was a Iguanodon who needs to lead the herds home, but is incredibly stupid and doesn't even go south in the first place. So, along with 5 other dinosaurs, he goes to the South, being pursued by Dromeosaurus and Albertosaurus

In 4th grade, I wrote a beautiful (beautiful for being written by a 10-year-old) story about a hunting dog that was abused by it's owner and then given to her son, who takes it hunting. However my 4th grade teacher was an absolute witch! During our reading circle, she called on my and I read one small section. No joke, the entire class's jaw dropped.

The next day she took my story away (no joke) and told me I had to write off prompts now. During the course of the school year, she went on to take away 2 more pieces of writing-- which were written off prompts! One because I wrote it with every other line rhyming, and she took it away and said it couldn't be a poem even though there was no rule in the prompt description against it. The other because I was talking. That, of course, brought my writing grade down and by that time my mom wrote a letter to the school complaining about my teacher (who also would make up things such as that ants arent animals and sharks are mammals just to contradict me). She also tried to send me to the principals office for cracking my knuckles on the desk, saying I was 'flipping the class off'. And when I tripped and rammed into two other students, she sent me to the back of the room, telling me I would have to pay their medical bills. (Neither of them were injured, but thought they had concussions).

That whole paragraph was entirely true. If you knew some of the kids that were in my class, you could even ask them. Every time my teacher humiliated me in front of the class, I would get kids coming up to me and saying "I'm sorry Mrs. _______ hates you so much."

I didn't write again until now. (8th grade). Even though I basically quit writing and reading during those time periods, I was still placed in Advanced Reading and English during middle school, and was placed in Honors LA for high school.

Take that Ms. Beck!!!! <----- Still hate you!

I can't really remember when I started writing. I might have been in sixth grade, but I don't really remember.

I do remember the first story I "wrote." It was about a kid who could turn into a killer whale. He found out that he had to save the world. Really juvenile, huh? The really sad part is, I'm still working on that story in one form or another. It keeps increasing in scope, getting bigger and bigger. Maybe one day it will be done.

Mmm...lets see...when I was in like first grade I wrote a suckish story about a reindeer, and that's what got this all going.

All of my writings are influenced by the Redwall series by Brian Jacques, and the one I am currently writing is posted on this site.

Hi,
Everyone started writing when they were so young! I only started when I was 12! I was a late bloomer I guess. I did write before, only for school though. Nothing on my own, unless you count school work for my pretend school!

Love,

I started writing stories when I was like 6 or 7, for english homeworks usually. Then I wrote my own novel out of my spare time, christ that was long. It was bad but I really enjoyed it. Don't have it anymore though - deleted it  feel a bit stupid for doing that but it really was that bad. Now I write shorter stuff and its a bit better :P.

I started writing when I was about 8 yrs old. My first work? Hmmm.... It was about a Pika (no, I said Pika, not Pikachu) who's just trying to have a sleep in his little nest when this Mountain Tiger (?) wakes him up and tries to eat him. All the mountain animals do a whole migration across the mountain, Red Panda gets snobby because he can't eat his favourite leaves. Cougar comes along, and there's a fight between him and the Tiger. Pika breaks it up, and they're all friends again. Happy ending. Whoop-de-doo. Might try and rewrite it.
