Phase One
The Awakening
-
The group wakes up in a dark ancient tomb. They have no memory of how they got there. Before they can learn more and introduce themselves, the tomb begins to crumble. They are forced to flee, barely escaping the debris.
Finding Shelter + The Sun Tattoo
- The group takes refuge in an abandoned prayer site.
- They finally introduce themselves.
- Maia experiences a powerful vision of Ra and someone who she assumes is Kakra.
- She thinks it was a vision of the future of Kakra, but its really a vision of Kakra's sister from the past. Nobody knows this yet, though.
- The group starts speculating about the tattoo and its meaning.
- Moswen leads the conversation but inquiries with others.
- Kakra (who is deeply religious) believes the mark has supernatural or divine origin-- possibly linked to spirits or the gods.
- Amaia, skeptical, challenges Kakra and starts pointing fingers.
Searching for Food + First Confrontation
- The group ventures deeper into Khepera to find food and water. (I will post a better description of Khepera soon)
- They come across dead priests and surviving cultists who turn out to be extremely hostile.
- Abel uses his skills in thievery to steal an artifact (that they will need later) from the cultists.
- The group starts realizing their strengths and weaknesses.
- Adronika finds a hidden temple filled with food, wine, jewels, and various other offerings. Others suspect its a trap and don't eat until Adronika proves it safe. I would also imagine that snakes would be there guarding the temple, so maybe Anakin can help with that!
- Maia is still skeptical of Kakra and finds everything she does suspicious.
Phase Two
Finding Ra's Tomb + The Book of Ra
- The chosen ones find an entrance in the temple that looks a lot like a sacred tomb.
- In order to open the door, they must solve puzzles and beat traps.
- They find what they think is Ra's tomb.
- The group discovers ancient hidden inscriptions and clues about their connection to the Prophecy of Khepera.
- Hidden inside Ra's Tomb, [someone, any volunteers?] finds the Book of Ra. Inside, they discover the actual prophecy.
Exploring Khepera
- Callista [possibly?] comes face to face with the Pharaoh who exiled her.
- Revenge Arc-- does she kill him, use him for information, or sacrifice him to Ra as an offering?
more will be added later!

This storybook will be on a tri-weekly schedule, so everyone is expected to post or collaborate on a post every three weeks.

This roleplay takes place in Egypt-- specifically during the Late Period (664 - 332 BCE). This was a time of decline for Egypt, as they were primarily invaded by the Persians and Greeks. Even though it was rare to spot a native Pharaoh, its priests and elites still held some power, especially in religion. This focused on the pantheon of egyptian gods.
Many of Egypts cities, like Khepera, fell into ruin once they were invaded. There were a few other territories that survived, such as Memphis, Thebes, Alexandria, and Saqqara (your character will most likely come from one of these territories). Magic still lingered, though scarce. Mummifiers still practiced death magic, astrologers still practiced divination, priests still praticed healing magic. Though, one completely vanished when Khepera sank-- solar magic.
Untill... well, now.

Here's more information on the other cities/territories for Character Profile and character development purposes. Our characters will be spending 95% of the storybook in the City of Khepera, so don't think too hard about the worldbuilding or time period. :D
- Memphis (Capital)
Memphis is a northern territory, and the capital of the region. It's the center of Egypts power, but is also home to an abundancy of Persians. Because of this, Memphis is declining. A lot of people who live in Memphis praise Ra, and divination thrives here.
Alexandria
Located on the coast, Alexandria is a relatively new city-- but has become a mixture of greek and egyptian influence. It's become a major intellectual and scholar-centered territory ever since Memphis started declining. It's the main hub for alchemy and star magic.
Thebes
Thebes is placed along the Nile River and was once the spiritual heart of Egypt. It was known for its worship centers and temples. Now, it's invaded by the Persians. There is almost no magic left here-- the only magic left belonging to the remaining priests. The Book of the Dead is kept here, locked up and safeguarded by Persian warriors.
Saqqara
Saqqara is close to Memphis but along the western part of the Nile. It's home to pyramids and tombs of ancient pharoahs. The village here studies necromancy and they're highly sought out for due to the state of Egypt. It's currently the wealthiest territory, and the Persians and Greeks are too scared to invade here.

The City of Khepera was intentionally sunk by Ra, the Sun God. It once housed his temples, magical practices, and his own connection to the pantheon. In order to protect little magic he still had left-- he sunk the city beneath the sands, right next to the Nile. He was imprisoned by the other pantheon members shortly affter-- he was accused of harboring dangerous magic for himself.
As the pantheon slowly fell and Ra's power was the first to fade, he instictively chose a certain number of individuals to safeguard what remained of his power. These are our characters. Each of our characters have interacted with Ra in some way, whether it's genetics, previous worship, reading his ancient texts, spirituality, or simply just a curious mind that led them to research the city. Somehow, he felt a connection to your character.

Each character has the tattoo of a glowing gold sun on their right wrist. This is also known as their divine mark, gifted to them by Ra himself. They don't know it yet, but this tattoo is extremely important to their survival and the discoveries they'll make in Khepera. The tattoo will be used to help us advance towards our main goal: to fulfill an ancient prophecy that sets Ra free. By doing this, our characters are unleashing solar magic once more-- which, in all, could possibly save Egypt from invaders.
The tattoo is also the source of our characters magic. It glows when used, and it can burn if used too much. It is also your one connection to Ra-- use it wisely.
