Why registration was disabled for two months

Hey everyone,

This was a big mistake on my part, and I need to address why registration was disabled for two months. As many of you know, there's a lot of new laws making their ways through various legislatures that are impacting social media sites like YWS. Among other items, these laws are often raising the age for either parental consent to join a social media site, or just raising it altogether.

Piecing this together is tough, and there may come a day where I have to just throw in the towel and limit registration to those 16+ (or maybe even higher). However, for now I'm trying to thread a line where each jurisdiction's law is followed, and no more. Thus, Australia's social media age restrictions don't apply to Canada's, and the US State of Florida's doesn't apply to Illinois'.

Coding that is a challenge, and while I thought I had wrapped it up in late December, I found in early January that there was still quite a bit to do. Thus, I disabled registration temporarily until I could iron everything out. Life got in the way, and temporarily turned into two months.

I've re-enabled registration, though there's actually still stuff left to do! I thank everyone for their patience and understanding, and I also understand the frustration many of you have felt -- not just from registration being disabled but also from my silence on the subject. Fortunately, going forward I will be able to devote more time to YWS, and I definitely look forward to seeing how this site develops in what will be a very interesting year ahead.

No wonder I couldn't register a new account a few days ago, but now I'm back and the registration is unlocked. I had to immediately register my current account.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna lay down and become a tomato for a while.
