Reverse remained awake. He had a theory on why he was reassigned to this group. Not just because they'd lost their previous comms officer. Not just because he was good. It was because this team was put together with the ones no one wanted. Which included the comms officer who rarely talked. The only one he didn't quite get would be here was Path. Out of everyone he was the most normal.

Path grew silent. He closed his optics and listened to the scuffling outside. With nobody talking, one could occasionally hear the screeches of the predators. They hunted energon, and the team would be no match for their swarms.

They rested through the night, switching shifts on guard duty so the others could rest.

Finally the light of day drove the predators away and Tarmac got up. He reached over and knocked on Helixon's head. "Wake up, help me get this rock out of the way."

Path slowly stood up. He'd stayed up the whole night, just listening to the outside and the sounds of the bots around him. The cave was cramped and he couldn't stand to his full height.

Helixon came online, groaning as he stood up and stretched. "How are my looks? I was trying to get some beauty sleep."

Helixon kicked Altrock until he woke up. Altrock pulled Helixon's legs out from under him as he stood up. After a few more bumps the two went over to help Tarmac move the boulder.

Reverse woke up at the sound of their ruckus.

Blueshade stood up, for a minute still confused. He shook his head. "Why all the noise?" He wasn't fully awake yet.

Path stood back till the boulder was moved and the sunshine came in. It was bright, and the temperature was already rising. They should reach Nova Station today if they didn't have any delays.

Altrock and Helixon continued pushing each other around once they were out of the cave. Plus threats.

Reverse walked out of the cave once they had removed the boulder, and looked around. Oh look! An arm! Well, the remnant skeleton of one.

Blueshade stepped gingerly around the husk of whatever dead thing was outside the cave. He didn't know what diseases it might have had.

"Transform and let's move. I don't want to spend another night trapped in there with all of you." Tarmac frowned. "Especially you two." He glowered at Helixon and Altrock. "I don't know what kind of energon you're using, but being in an enclosed space with the both of you was disgusting."

"We're using the same stuff as you, unless you changed yours." Altrock shrugged. Helixon just snorted, and transformed.

"It's definitely not me. You guys have got to get that looked at." Tarmac transformed and started rolling.

"C'mon kid, let's move." Path said.

"We're perfectly fine." Altrock replied, transforming.

Reverse nodded and transformed.

They pulled out. The Nova Station wasn't far.

Path transformed with Reverse in tow. Blueshade zipped ahead at first but eventually circled back to ride beside them.

"How far till the Nova Station, Path?" Blueshade asked.

"Few hours. We can refuel there. I think then we're going to move in on the con base tonight. They won't see us coming." Path chuckled. "Reverse here is going to block our signals so they can't pick us up. You can do that, right kid?"

"Yes." Reverse replied, his voice sounding like a tape on rewind. He felt comfortable in his alt mode, being transported by the one person in this team he was comfortable with. He remembered being told that a team worked best when they trusted each other.

Helixon was up with Tarmac, and Altrock was in between Path and Tarmac.

"So he does talk!" Blueshade sped up, spitting metal fragments from the ground out from under his tires all over Path's finish. Path just sighed and watched him zip away excitedly.

"Then we'll be set." Path said. "I usually bring up the rear in these things, kid. you stay back with me and see how we get things done. You'll probably need to go with one of the others and get in closer eventually but for now you're still learning."

"Sounds good." He replied, listening as Blueshade zipped away.
