Rönn stalked back the way they'd come, keeping am iron grip on her. Suddenly, he went flying, losing his hold of her as a massive tail struck him in the side. He hit a tree and fell, gasping as the wind was knocked from his lungs. Humtur, holding the horse's bridle, was standing where Rönn had been, gentle face wrinkled into one of hostility and disapproval. "I knew I shouldn't trusts a creature like you," he growled. Rönn recovered quickly, lips curling back to reveal flat brown teeth. He snarled at Humtur, who growled deep in his throat. "Leave her be," Humtur ordered. Rönn didn't respond, leaping at Humtur, who swatted him away easily. Rönn skidded, catching himself, and charged again.

This time the charge connected, and Rönn's horns caught Humtur squarely in the shin. Humtur roared in pain and grabbed Rönn, lifting him off the ground.
