"...Oh." Sadie hesitated, feeling awkward. "Are you... doing okay?" Not having food at home seemed like a pretty big warning sign. Of poverty or mental health she wasn't sure, but it wasn't good either way.

Sadie flicked her blinker on even though they'd only passed two other cars this entire time and there was no one in sight now, then made the turn.

The cabin was up the road a ways. Two cars were parked in front of the meager garage, and a massive merle Great Dane came bounding over the chain link fence to stand in the driveway, tail wagging. "That's Uther." Nicholas pointed, scrabbling for the door handle.
