The storyteller launched into another story almost immediately after taking a breath, this time a love story between the gods of Light and Darkness. He seemed tireless, and the Drummers continued to beat their drums rhythmically.

Jerica waited for the briefest lull, then, “what do you know of Strithr?”

The man paused as he heard her and the other Drummers ceased their tapping, looking toward her quizzically. The man adjusted his spectacles, blinking rapidly. "Well I--you could have at least waited til the end of this story, eh?" He glanced toward the other older fellow, who had a very grave expression on his face. He was taller than the storyteller and broader as well; he looked more suited to heavy lifting than being a monk. That being said, there was a cool, academic look to his gray eyes and he carried himself with an aura of authority. When he said nothing, the storyteller turned back to Jerica. "I know many tales and deeds of Strithr. I know their aspects well. What is it you wish to know, young seeker of knowledge?"

Jerica hesitated, not sure how to reply to that. But she straightened her shoulders and lifted her chin a bit. “They’ll awake soon; what do you think they want people to know of them?”

The storyteller grinned, showing crooked teeth. "That's a very good question. They're one of the harder gods to know, frankly. But I'll tell you this. They're a neutral party in many matters. They walk with Froenig and Haelar most times and they find their own justice."

Jerica nodded. This was going well… right? She decided to be quiet to see if he offered anything else.

"They're not the sort to make themselves known right away," he mused. "But really, Strithr is a difficult one to predict. They have many facets." He looked down at her. "Your accent is foreign; what's this curiosity with our gods?"

She lifted her chin a bit more, feeling defensive. “They’ll wake soon; I want to be on the right side of history when they do. Strithr’s side.”

“I hope they are all on one side,” Jerica said. “But history’s shown that’s not guaranteed. I dare say maybe not even likely. You just told tales of conflict yourself.”
