The shadows obscured his face too well. He rifled through the drawers.

(Does she have her rune on her)

(Yes. Thank fuck lol)
(…Unless it’d be better for her not to? I don’t know what you have planned lol)

She slowly reached up and involuntarily felt for the rune in her pocket to be sure it was still there. Thank goodness she hadn’t set it on the night stand like she’d considered. She was worried about breaking it in the night and had originally thought her locked door would protect her, but had forgotten to take it out of her pocket before she fell asleep. Thankfully. Is that what he was after? How could he know about it?

(Nope that works)

There was a pause as the fabric rustled, and he turned his head. Then he straightened and went to her wardrobe.

Ky forced herself to take a deep breath. The rune was still there. She was safe.

Should she… confront him? Pretend like she was starting to wake up? Lay still?

She didn’t know. Tears pricked her eyes from the fear. She wished he’d leave.

He rifled through her things systematically, as quietly as possible, moving through as much of the room as he could. He checked under her bed and then very, very cautiously tried to shift the blankets to check under her pillows.

She flinched despite herself, then screwed her eyes shut tightly, kicking herself mentally for being so fucking stupid. Would he believe she’d flinched in her sleep?

He paused and drew back, then leaned in close and said in a deep, gravelly voice, "Where's your charm, little girl?"

The bit was up.

She scrambled backward off the other side of the bed, making Petrir mew angrily.

“Who are you?” Her voice was shaky and uncertain, filled with fear.

“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she denied, backing away. “Who are you? Why are you here?”

"Who the fuck do you think I am? Where is it? Give it to me." He paced toward her but didn't get close.

She retreated towards the door, but didn’t leave. “M-michael?”
