Down to the Depths

Two figures stood in front of what resembled a crumbling temple from a time long past. Pillars of marble marred with age and covered in ivy rose proudly out of the ground. Statues lined its perimeter. And through the center of it all, stood a gateway. One that almost vibrated, like it was trying desperately to hold something in. It also gave of an almost magnetic pull, like it was trying to suck in everything around it.

Onni holds two small bottles. Eir face is almost drenched in sweat. "Are you ready to do this?" He holds out a bottle to Sylvie. "I am."

Sylvie takes the bottle with a nod. No words need to be exchanged. They've been planning this for a long time now.

"Alright." Onni holds out their hands. "Let's do this."

Ey steps forward before pausing. Mia was the one leading the dance whenever the trio danced before. Without her, ey doesn't know who should lead. Ey looks at Sylvie, deciding to see what she is planning.

Sylvie takes Onni hands gingerly.. She's also frozen for a moment, not entirely sure what to do. Usually she didn't have to think too much besides following along when it came to dancing.

"Umm...." she begins.

Onni nervously laughs, eir face turning bright red. "I'll lead. Don't worry."

He ignores their three-inch height difference and takes a step back.

Sylvie manages a smile. "Thank you."

She does her best to ignore their height difference and how it was probably going to end up being a bit of a mess and does her best to hold on like she'd been taught.

Onni falters just enough to stumble to the side. Ey quickly rights emself and keeps going, stepping back and swaying at awkward intervals. With each misstep, eir face gets redder and redder.

Sylvie does her best to go along with it. As it starts to deteriorate more and more from a dance to them basically falling over each other in circles, she finally takes a deep breath and raises her voice.

"Umm...are you sure this will work if we keep falling so much?"

Onni laughs nervously. "I'm honestly not sure. We may have to start over." Ey could feel eir hands sweat, and ey were approaching crawl into a hole and never come out territory.

"Umm...should..I..umm..maybe try...the leading thing...I mean?" asked Sylvie tentatively. "The floor is probably a bit weirdly shaped towards where your standing or something maybe."

Onni nodded. "Good idea." Ey put eir hand on Sylvie's shoulder. "You were always better than me, anyway. Mia's probably cringing from Naenia."

Sylvie changed the position of her hand slowly. "Oh no, you're great at it. I think today's just a bad day. Everyone has a few of those."

Onni stood on eir tiptoes to kiss Sylvie on the nose. "You're too sweet and absolutely wrong. But shall we try this again? For real this time."

Sylvie couldn't help the dusting of red that rose in her cheeks. "No you're the sweet one. Come on then. Let's dance."
