Gaius sent Bay down to fetch Rifkin first. He was already setting a believable scene in his head for Makata to hear about, but he wanted to be sure the two that Talia and Kaelan mentioned were spared. That required interviewing, unfortunately. Bay knocked on the door a few minutes after he'd been sent and opened the office door. "Rifkin, sir."

Rifkin didn’t know what the hell he had done to end up in Ash’s office. He was very quiet and somber as he shuffled in after Bay. He was getting too old to feel like a school boy in the head masters office. Not that he’d ever gone to school. Why couldn’t he just hit sixty already and age out into his pension? That’s all he wanted in this life. A nice, quiet retirement. Not a conversation with a bi pedophile.
