Two Crows Watch from the Gallows Tree (part 12)

Aashi sighed softly and nodded. “I hope so. It just hurts to watch him hurt. He doesn’t deserve it.”

Sara nodded as well, glancing at Ky. "He's a good man."

Ky glanced at her, then at Tadaaki, then back again and quietly nodded in agreement.

"So Ky, what do you think you'll do as a godmother?" Sara asked.

“I… I mean…” Ky looked up guiltily from the potato she’d been smashing with her fork. She’d discovered that a lot of tiny bites made you look like you were eating more than big bites did, even if you ate the same amount of food. Or less food, even. “…I honestly don’t really know what I’m supposed to do.”

"Well, Aashi, what does being a godmother mean for you and Tadaaki? And Ky, what does it mean for you?"

“Tadaaki and I were thinking basically what you already do, Ky,” Aashi said. “That’s why we asked. Be part of their life. Encourage them, love them, teach them — life skills or otherwise. And…well… like we mentioned if anything happened to us…”

Ky nodded. “I… am honestly not sure I’m the best pick, now that I’ve been thinking about it more. Once we all go home, I’m going to be weeks away. And… well… good forbid anything does happen to you… I can’t really have a kid — kids— if I don’t have my own house, right?” She looked at Sara, really not sure what it meant to be a godmother.

"Sure you can! Tomhas and Anneke weren't living in Caracal Keep when they had Lyra; they lived here. You could have a child wherever you live."

"Oh..." Ky considered it for a moment. "What an odd thought."

"Not so odd, is it? Family helps out family."

“I mean… yeah… that’s true. I just…” Ky thought for a moment. “It’s just weird to think about being responsible for a child when you’re not even responsible for yourself yet.”

(Also I just woke up from the world’s weirdest dream. It was this mash up of real life and this story. This week I got in trouble with the HOA because yOu LeFt YoUr TrAsH cAn OuT (I’m very annoyed by it, if you couldn’t tell xP we left it pressed against our house. It’s not like we left it on the sidewalk or curb or anywhere else that affects literally anyone — just left it outside rather than dragging it inside the garage. For one week. And it was last week, not this one — so it’s been gone like a week and a half now. Like a single week of an empty trash bin on my own fucking property hurting no one at all but oh nuuuuu it’s definitely someone else’s business to get me in trouble for it). Anyhow. My brain decided to mash that up with story time (I think because I’ve taken up the Herculean task of trying to get a word count for this RP and meant to just c/p each post but am ending up reading or heavily skimming each post and am to page 30 of the first thread where Loquitur complains about his father being a brute and how he only saw him once and it was enough for him so it was fresh on my mind) but I dreamed that I was Ky and so Tomhas was my father and he bought me a house very close to his own so that I could have some autonomy even though I was very young. And I dreamt that Brogan is the one who turned me into the HOA and I had the option to pay a ridiculously high fine or go to the HOA meeting and make my case for why being fined for something that doesn’t affect anyone else is fucking bullshit but that would involve challenging Brogan and I was like abso-fucking-lutely not I’ll just pay the fine I don’t want to meet him but Tomhas said that I wasn’t allowed to do that and that I needed to grow a backbone and go show my shitty grandfather that I wasn’t scared of him and prove that Tomhas was a better father than he’d ever be)

(Yeah me too; that was concerning. And it's still like this!)

Sara nodded slowly. "That sort of makes sense. Do you want to be more self-reliant?"

(That sounds like something Brogan would absolutely have done and Tomhas would never have done that, though. Freaking wild dream; I wish I dreamed about this rp)

(It is! I wonder if I should like… idk raise a fuss but where?)
(And yeah haha very ooc for Tomhas he’d just be like no honey use my credit card xD stay the fuck away from my rapist father)(but yeah I actually have a lot of dreams about this haha especially when it’s like morning on the weekends because a lot of times I’ll wake up, answer, then go back to sleep. Then randomly wake up a bit later and answer and then go back to sleep again. And when that happens the mini dream I have between my alarms is of the story and your characters will do wildly ooc things and I’ll get so frustrated and confused and then wake up and that didn’t happen at all hahah)(like one of my dreams was Gaius executing Ky and I was like wtf you can’t just kill off my character — like the instant I woke up of course I knew it was a dream and you’d never do that but I got so mad in the dream hahaha)

“I mean…” She shrugged, trying to choose her words carefully. “At the very least I want to stop being treated like and called a child… but saying that seems to make people double down. So…” she shrugged again.

This certainly is a fun roleay to dream about...have the gods woken up in your dreams at all?

Also I'm debating whether to make the gods eldritch monstrosities or just human-looking like most western mythologies. What do you think?)

Sara gave a hesitant nod.

(Yeah I think so too but the registration email has been fucked up for several months and Nate isn’t fixing it… hopefully this one is an easier fix tho!)
(And thankfully no haha (I am not a seer ) usually it usually involves characters I’ve just read or thought about that day so the gods haven’t come up at all but they very well may once we we get more into them)(altho sometimes my dreams are weird as fuck and there was one about Gaius that made me feel really gross haha)
(Honestly no idea! Are you planning on having them be face to face interactions? I don’t know what you have in mind for this tbh)

Ky nodded too, then hesitated. “…I don’t want to have to move out yet though. That seems… hard. I could do it… but I don’t really want to. Yet.” She basically took care of Papa and their house. It’d be even easier on her own. But. Well.
