"I'd like that, sir," Ky said with a little smile. "Only if it wouldn't be too much of a bother though, of course, sir. I don't want to waste your time."

"Not at all. I'm not busy all hours of the day, just most of them. I can take some time tomorrow morning to introduce you."
"The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that." -Karis Nemik

Gaius nodded. "The sling should be able to come off in a couple days," Sera told Tadaaki. "And the splint for you, Ky."

They both smiled at that and subconsciously shifted, imagining their freedom. And then simultaneously realizing how bad of a look it was to fantasize about freedom of any sort in front of their hosts. They probably seemed so ungrateful. Silently complaining about the very things that helped them heal rather than reveling in how lucky it was that Sera was willing and able to help them. Gods. They were terrible.
"Yes ma'am," Ky said, dipping her head. "Thank you."

"I bet you're glad to get out of them." She smiled slightly.

"Yes ma'am." Ky smiled and dipped her head, then hesitated. Gods. Now she was verbalizing her ungratefulness. What a bitch. Best to explain herself. "We're very, very grateful for them, though, ma'am. We count it a great fortune to have been entrusted into your care."
Was entrusted the right word? She wasn't sure. Too late now.

She dipped her head. "I'm just glad for you that it wasn't worse. I can't believe Tarr did that to you."

Ky and Tadaaki exchanged a glance. Should they admit the truth? Probably. They were on thin ice. No secrets. None.
"... it was mostly Aleth, ma'am," she said very quietly, cheeks warm. "But... yes. His lordship did take it... a bit... far. Maybe. I-I don't mean to- I mean no disrespect! Sorry! I... just..." She was blushing profusely at this point and nodded, staring at the table. Why the fuck could she never say a single thing right? "Apologies."

She grimaced. "They both ought to have terrible things done to them for putting you through something like that. I hope you hurt him, Terran." Bay dipped his head.

Ky glanced between them with wide eyes, aghast, and quickly looked back at the table, blushing even worse. This... this was... what? How could she go from being so gentle to wishing harm on someone? How...? What? Ky's brain refused to process.
Tadaaki had been staring at the table, eyes intent on not glancing up for even a moment, as blood rushed to his face as well. Ky had opened this can of worms. She could close it, too. He'd stay out of the way.

Gaius glanced at them with a small frown but said nothing.

Ky decided it'd be awkward for them to both stare at the table so she forced herself to glance around as casually as she could, though she was very, very careful not to actually look directly at anyone. No risk of catching their eyes. Hopefully.
Tadaaki just focused on begging the chair to open and swallow him, his gaze never leaving the base of his goblet.

"What do you two enjoy, generally?" Gaius asked after awhile.

Ky glanced at him for a moment before she remembered that talking was her job. Oops. She looked at Ash. "Um... we're pretty easily contented, sir. Happy with whatever." That wasn't an answer. "But, um... we've been having a very nice time playing games with Emery."
