Ky smiled back at him then glanced down the hall. Gods help them all.
Aleth was certainly rotten. But a good actor. So hopefully that would sell it.
Ky was also rotten, but was a master manipulator, and accidentally made people like her even when she wasn’t trying. Even though she was usually trying. She certainly was trying now. But she was already anxious about the thought of a one-on-one with Ash, without Aleth being there to hide behind. It was only going to be that much worse in the moment.
At least Tadaaki was genuinely good. One of the three of them was a decent human. Which would help his case. Because he was absolutely going to be an anxious mess during his interview and do his absolute best to make the conversation end as quickly as humanly possible. But if Ash was as smart as Emery claimed, he’d be able to see that, right? Tadaaki’s anxiety as anxiety rather than malice.
