“No, you’re okay,” Ky said quickly, offering a little smile. This was exhausting. But not entirely unwelcome. She supposed. “I, uh, I mean.” She glanced at Gaius and Sara then back at Ishai. “I don’t want it… but there is this fruit that’s sort of similar to a plum but with the texture of a pear. It’s quite nice. Never saw it outside of my region…. But I definitely don’t want it anymore. It was just nice when I was a kid.”

Ky smiled politely and dipped her head. She wasn’t a kid. And she’d never wanted to be inconvenient even when she was. In retrospect she realized how oblivious she’d been. But. It was different. She supposed it was nice Ishai had the luxury of a childhood that left her with this mindset.
