Ky shrugged. She didn’t really improve anyone’s life by being in it — no one was lucky to meet her. But he didn’t seem to mind her. Which was nice.

Ky offered a little smile and nodded. He was still being excessively generous with her role in all this — had he forgotten that she was making a suicide attempt when Rönn intervened? If anything, he was the one to restore a small spark of humanity in her. “And now we’re friends.”

Ky nodded, then hesitated. She didn’t like thinking of any of them as assets. That made it sound like something she managed. Used for her own benefit. She didn’t want to use anyone.
