We could stick with a more peaceful approach, that climate change was reduced, but still, there were casualties. Countries have reduced the power of companies and are now building space elevators for space mining, to put Earth on hold, so that the materials are all built on the moon.

It wouldn´t be accurate to put an elevator in Antarctica but Antarctica would be a cool setting to create its own rules and laws.

We could have, like, it be government corruption that wants to build this elevator, but scientists have discovered that it will upend the local biosphere to let outer space into the atmosphere and so there are sane people trying to stop the building of the elevator and rebelling against the government to do so?
