Ky nodded, not quite sure what to say now that he’d agreed with her. She was expecting to argue with him over it. To insist she was as good as she’d said she was.
“Yeah.” She very carefully tried to cross her arms, but it didn’t work. “You can do anything for two weeks.”

Ky nodded. She’d prove she could do it. For pride’s sake, if nothing else. Besides, that would give her time to get to Serpent Keep and well away from where Tomhas would have to see. “Easy.”
It wasn’t. Not at all. But she could do it.

"If you make it two weeks and like the reward, I suggest we try stretching it to four, and expanding each time. The reward will be greater with every challenge you complete." Hopefully she wouldn't see it as a betrayal. He thought it was an appropriate truth that she would receive. Hopefully a truth good enough for her to continue with these challenges until eventually she didn't think of it as a challenge to stay alive.

She looked at him suspiciously, not sure how to respond to that. She couldn’t very well say ‘no’ without looking like she was planning on breaking her promise to Tomhas — and she needed him to trust her enough to let her out of sight if she wanted a prayer of getting the right opportunity.
But she wasn’t going to promise a month. At least, not to Gaius. If she broke her promise it was going to be to Tomhas alone; she wasn’t going to make the same offer to Gaius. She was accepting his offer of a challenge for two weeks. Nothing more. But there was no need to tell him all that, so instead she nodded silently.

She nodded again. It wasn’t. It was just another thing that she didn’t want to do but had to. A promise was a promise. And a dare was a dare. And her conscience wouldn’t let her go back on either.

(Works for me! Would it be private or would Tomhas/Gaius/Anneke/Sara all talk it out in the infirmary since Gaius can’t walk? Lol I don’t mind either way. I can bring Zander in to give Ky something to do if they wouldn’t be talking about it in front of her)

(Fair enough! I don’t actually have anything burning to talk about amongst my characters. Ky is going to consent to go; Tadaaki will convince Aashi to go too; Zander is going to insist on going along, too. I think he’d probably want to at least escort them to Serpent Keep and verify that Gaius’s security suits him, then go off to knock some heads together and threaten people not to touch her haha)
