Ky is a farm girl who got taken by soldiers when she was 12 because they king is a perv that keeps a harem of children. She was like, hard pass, and instead posed as a stable boy for three years. When she was 15 my villain, Aleth, figured out her secret and blackmailed her into keeping her mouth shut as he convinced the king to give her to Aleth as a thank you gift.
Aleth is what he calls a “diplomat for hire” in that he connects people with money to the services they need, for a fee. Literally doesn’t matter what said service is — assassin, spy, kidnapper, drafting contracts, whatever. He’s also horrifically abusive.
We’re gonna say Ky is 20 here. So she’s learned an insane number of languages and is very good at being charming and entirely unthreatening. She’s also very good at noticing details and figuring out when people are lying. But she absolutely melts into a puddle of anxiety in the face of conflict.
