Ky laughed despite herself. “He did frighten me… I don’t think he likes me. But… but maybe he’ll like me better, now that I don’t have to lie to him anymore? He could see straight through me. It was so unsettling.”

"I thought he was a Seer when I was really little," Anneliese chuckled. "But he just looks really hard and listens even better. Father says he's always been that way. I'm sure he doesn't dislike you; he just doesn't trust you. It takes a long time for him to trust people." She lowered her voice. "I don't know how long it'll take him to trust Father again."

“I don’t feel like much of a child,” Ky mused, but also stood up and folded the blanket and laid it back down on the chair. “I had my childhood taken from me… but I do appreciate the chance at a fresh start. I just hope I don’t mess it up.”

“You as well!” Ky offered a smile, then glanced around the room. She’d caught sadness again. It’d take a while to shake off — so she could just stay up. But she changed her mind and stepped into the hall instead. She could always have an existential crisis while laying in bed. God knew that’s what her bed at Aleth’s was for.

(Anything works for me! I will say that a few skips after the ceremony we should probably jump a couple years ahead if that's alright with you. That's where a bit more action happens. Other than that, I'm good to introduce some more POVs, work with Pratik and Utrid and Ada, or something else!)
