Tomhas carried the children out of the room, and soon Peter could be heard wailing down the hall as he realized storytime was actually over. Lyra wrinkled her nose. "That boy's got a set of lungs on him," Anneke sighed.

Ky tensed, about to spring to her feet as well, but she stopped herself. She needed to work on tempering that impulse. Just because someone else stood quickly didn't mean that she needed to do so as well. She could follow her own lead. At least in casual situations like this. "Good night! Pleasant dreams!"
