The scent of blood lingered through the air. Remus prowled through the trees and bushes, trying to find its source. It was the time of the month where he was craving some blood, and he hadn’t had any from a human in so long. He was in a trance, just trying to get to the blood. Eventually, he noticed the lone human, standing there in the woods, back turned. Chuckling, he took this chance to pounce.

Logan was exhausted. He’d been separated from his friends weeks ago— months ago, in some cases— and it hadn’t been on purpose. He’d lost several a few months ago in a surprise attack, and he’d only been with Patton until a few weeks ago, when he’d returned to their meeting place and he hadn’t been there. He’d waited all night, but it was clear Patton was gone for good, whatever the reason. He’d run to the woods to hide, and tried to stay here out of sight, but it wasn’t going very well. He’d nearly been trapped by a bear trap, and the sound had alerted some nearby nighttime predator of him— he hadn’t been able to see which, not in the dark— and Logan had run for his life. He’d escaped, but not without some cuts and bruises. Now, it was early in the morning, hours before the sun would rise, and he was so tired. He wanted to lay down and cry. Behind him, he heard the bushes rustle in a sudden movement.
