All right, listen up.

We don't exist. Officially, unofficially, on paper, off paper. Anyway you put it, we don't exist. Try to Google us, you won't find us. Ask any government official you want, and they don't know anything about us. That's the point. They shouldn't know. They don't know until it's too late, and then, we make sure to cover our tracks.

So, why are you here?

Well, to put it simply, we're hiring.

We're in the field of fixing things. And, lately, there's been a lot of things needing fix. Frankly, the world's a mess. But, enough about our establishment. Let's hear about yourself, and see if you're fit for the job.

    Additional Information
    • This is the HQ, the main thread for an overarching story of roleplays.
    • You will be a part of a taskforce that has missions all over the world. Each mission will be its own roleplay.
    • Once the mission is complete, the roleplay is finished and this thread is updated to continue the main storyline.
    • Characters remember what happens on previous missions, even if they were not a part of said mission.
    • Characters can be created and retired at any time.
    • Characters will not be on every mission.
    • Missions will be the only plot written at any time.

The World

Welcome to Earth. The year is 2078. The world is not a fun place anymore. Not that it ever was, but you get what I mean.

You remember when I said we're in the business of fixing things? Well, the whole world's a mess now. After the last mecha war, a lot of governments are destabilized and trust of our AI bethren is at an all time low, even within the most liberal countries. Here's a quick recap, because your real work is gonna start before you can do any homework.

Mecha War

Our world's still recovering from the Mecha War seven years ago. A Splinter virus infected a factory off the coast of Korea and went haywire. The whole world was affected by it, one way or another. Even if they weren't fighting, they were surviving. The war ended five years ago. For many civilians, it's still fresh on the mind.

Androids

Androids, in some form or another, have existed in society for about twenty years at this point. Having gained independence and full global citizenship just before the mecha war, there has been immense pushback for them to fully join society. In response, a sect of androids has separated from society to live peacefully, and either focus on benefiting society or removing themselves from it entirely.

Splinter

A rogue virus from the last war, this was nicknamed the Splinter Virus after an extremist group called Splinter claimed it was their technology after the war ended. They have been causing minor problems ever since, but nothing too annoying. Still, HQ is keeping an eye on them, because even if there's a small chance that what they said is true, we cannot risk another world war on our hands.

Space

Science and technology has expanded at a breakneck pace. We are on the brink of interstellar travel, and have explored many aspects of our own star system. There are early colonization plans for Mars. Some governments have established strongholds on the Moon, separate from the public's eye.

Scientific Breakthroughs

Due to the scientific breakthroughs, things not thought possible just fifty years before are now possible. Many have called some of these things witchcraft, or magic. However, we have just pushed ourselves scientifically. The sky is the limit when it comes to the technology capabilities of HQ.

World Powers

Because of the mecha war, many places that used to be world powers are struggling. Power has now plataeued for many countries, and the power balance is now more even than it has been in over a century. However, because so many countries and so many people have power, there have been insecurities and power struggles. Part of our job is to solve these struggles as silently as possible.

Code: Select all

Sit down. I'm Commander Furia, head of HQ. If you get this job, you'll take orders from me. Understood?

Your Response:

Hmm. Closer to the microphone. State your name for the record.

Your Name:

Okay. First mistake of this job. We don't use our actual names here. Give me an alias.

Your Alias:

Really? That's the best you can come up with? No, no, we're moving forward. What makes you qualified for this job?

Your Abilities: (Be unique! If you want a broad power, find a way to make it yours)
Strengths:
Weaknesses:

Hmm. Okay, so what are you planning on wearing to the battlefield? Nothing ridiculous. I'm not going to waste my resources on a flashy suit just for you to die on the first mission.

Your Appearance:

We'll smooth out the details later. Good enough. Now to the nitty gritty. I need to know that you'll be compatible with the other members. I also need to know that you know yourself enough to reveal all aspects of your personality, even the not so good.

Your Personality:
Strengths:
Weaknesses:

We'll learn soon enough if what you said is the truth. Now. Tell me about your past. This is vital information, so try not to leave out details. Anything incriminating especially. I need to know if I have to do more paperwork to get you hired.

Your Age:
Your Gender & Pronouns:
Your History:
Personal Secret:
Personal Wish:

I really did not need to know your hopes and aspirations, but thank you for that knowledge. Before we leave, do you have any questions for us?

Other:

Three New Operations Are Available

Image

In a holojet, above the Mediterranean Sea.

Your squad surrounds a holo projector in the middle of the craft as it flares to life, emitting a hollow blue light. You see the form of Commander Furia.

"Kilo Squad," Furia says. Her voice is choppy and digitized from the projector. "Welcome to Site Oasis." Below Furia, a map sprawls out across the entire display of a launch site. "Now, listen up. We've known that Splinter would try to make a move for power in some way or another, but we've just been waiting for them to make a move. That was, until two weeks ago."

"This launch platform, Site Oasis, is off the coat of Portugal, far enough away from civilian eyes that the Portuguese government has partnered with several mechatechs to launch the first AI-powered supercomputer into space. Something like this hasn't been attempted since before the Mecha War. Everyone needs this to go well.

"However, no government can be attached to this without drawing too much attention. And it appears our Splinter friends have found that out, too. We've gotten reports of 'fishing ships' amassing in the Mediterranean Sea, not far from where you are now. From the reports, this is the largest show of force Splinter has done in years. They want this technology.

"Kilo Squad, your first priority is to make sure no Splinter technology makes it aboard that satellite before it launches. Only then will you make sure it does launch. Consider this a hot drop."

《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》

Kilo Squad Mission Parameters

  • Hotdrop onto Atlas Island
  • Create a Safezone
  • Clear out Splinter reinforcements
  • Destabilize the Splinter AI in the area
  • Flush out Mecha controls
  • If secure, launch the satellite.
  • If compromised, destroy the satellite.
  • Wipe out all Splinter targets
  • Leave it cleaner than when you got there

In a holojet, off the coast of Australia

Your squad surrounds a holo projector in the middle of the craft as it flares to life, emitting a hollow blue light. You see the form of Commander Furia.

"Quantum Squad," Furia says. Her voice is choppy and digitized from the projector. Welcome to Zealandia. Not much of a sight, as most of it's underwater, but because of the dire situation in Australia, Zealandia has become a bit of a goldmine for future habitats, just underwater.

"That's all fine an well, and while there's a lack of proper government in the area, the people have been organized and civilized enough that no one's needed to step in. But it seems like someone has. Our scouts have reported a rogue offshore operation from a group of ex-military officials from the Mecha War. They've called themselves the Leviathans. Cute, huh?

"What's not cute is the amount of earthquakes that have been spiking off the coast of New Zealand. Within the past few weeks, the amount has been increasing exponentially. Now, it's nothing major. There are hundreds of earthquakes that happen all around the world every day, and your average New Zealand citizen isn't noticing a difference. But seisometers across the globe are noticing, and they're noticing a pattern. Whatever's causing these quakes off the coast of New Zealand, it's not natural. And, if the trend continues, this could cause a cascading effect across the world. Let's not let this happen, Quantum Squad.

"You're dropping in with little to no intel, Quantum Squad. We have an informant on the inside, but they will contact you once it's deemed safe. You're to inflitrate, observe, and report. HQ will keep in touch."

《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》

Quantum Squad Mission Parameters

  • Drop onto nearby Secuuno Island.
  • Establish an Intel Center
  • Submerge and find a way to enter the Leviathan's underwater base
  • Infiltrate and find the source of the quakes.
  • Keep casualties to a minimum and blend in.

In a holojet, above the Atlantic Ocean.

Your squad surrounds a holo projector in the middle of the craft as it flares to life, emitting a hollow blue light. You see the form of Commander Furia.

"Whiskey Squad," Furia says. Her voice is choppy and digitized from the projector. "Welcome to the country of Brazil. I hope you weren't expecting a vacation." A projected map of Rio de Janeiro spreads to cover every inch of the holo table. "This week, the most important arms deal of the decade is happening. Everyone who's anyone is going to be there.

"There's a catch, though. This is all off the books, under the table, black market negotiations. If it's even thought that you're connected to a government in any fashion, you will be killed. Your goal is to blend in, and make sure that we're in the know of each and every single deal that goes in in this event. We have more than just a few cards to play here, and your actions throughout this week will dictate both the power dynamics of recovering and developing nations and how much influence and sway we have with said nations. HQ has found it surprisingly difficult to expand our sphere of influence into these countries, so this will be our first major foot in the door.

"Your goal, Whiskey Squad, is to blend in and inflitrate. No casualties. Use the power of your words instead of brute force. Oh, and one last note? This is going to be high fasion, spare-no-expense. Good luck, Squad."

《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》《•》

Whiskey Squad Mission Parameters

  • Land in Rio de Janeiro.
  • Settle into your assigned room before the first night's banquet and read through your mission report
  • Mingle with guests
  • Find your way inside the first round of negotiations.
  • Make sure HQ gets their way.
  • Minimum casualties.
  • Do not get caught.
